Microsoft has today revealed the first batch of six games leaving Xbox Game Pass in October 2023, which includes the likes of Trek To Yomi, The Legend of Tianding and plenty of other great indie titles.
Here's what's leaving Xbox Game Pass around October 15th, 2023:
Xbox Game Pass: Leaving Soon (October 15, 2023)
Date | Game | Platform |
October 15 | Eville | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | Overwhelm | PC |
October 15 | Shenzhen I/O | PC |
October 15 | The Legend Of Tianding | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | Trek To Yomi | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion | Console, PC, Cloud |
As usual, you'll find that all six of these games will be available with a discount of at least 20% until they're removed from Xbox Game Pass in the middle of October, and some of them may even become available for much cheaper.
While it's always disappointing to lose games, don't forget we've got an absolutely stacked month ahead of Xbox Game Pass in October 2023 featuring the likes of Gotham Knights, Warhammer 40K: Darktide, Forza Motorsport and more!

Turnip Boy is a short great game I can only recommend trying
Oh no! That's sad.
For the sheer amount of amazing games we are getting in October alone I am ok with any departures
The day one games we are getting are amazing can't complain at all if the games have been on a year and leaving that's ok
Fell off Trek to Yomi hard, style over substance, gameplay is awful. But planned to get to Turnip boy, Shenzen and Tian Ding at some point. Perhaps if I finish Starfield this week I can try a couple.
As everyone else has noted, given the quality of recent additions it would be silly to complain at these leaving
@themightyant I had the same thoughts on Trek to Yomi. Very stylish, but the game just didnt do it.
I've completed Turnip boy and tried Eville and wasn't impressed, I did want to try Trek to Yomi so I might give that a go if I can before it leaves.
@themightyant FYI, Turnip Boy is both short and well worth playing. My son and I played it together passing controller back and forth, and leisurely finished everything the game has in a weekend. We had a blast. Starfield also has me hooked with no end in sight, but if you can tear yourself away for a couple hours, Turnip Boy is a hoot.
Sadly, I agree with you and Tintin about Trek to Yomi. The visuals and audio are so good, but the game play is a mess. I haven’t hated combat in a game that much in a long time-super repetitive. Did I mention it was repetitive? Very repetitive. 😃
Nothing new to say, but I'll day it anyway 😀 I thought turnip boy was fun, played the base game but didn't try the Rogue- like last game element. I tried Trek for an hour or so, didn't feel strongly enough to go back. I thought maybe it felt bland combat wise because I was playing on easy. I don't have a PC and the other 2 didn't seem like my type of game. High hopes for the 2023 replacements, especially Lamplighters!
Call me crazy but I have a Gamepass sub just to try the likes of Yomi, Turnip and Tianding. It's perfect for trying out new non AAA games. 20 years ago, you'd pay $5 for a 4 day rental on each. Will try all of them on my test/dummy profile because I'm trying to improve my completion %
@cardcrusher29 Not crazy at all, I use my GP sub the same way but also account share with my brother who lives in a country where game rentals are illegal.
@Westernwolf4 Completely agree. Trek to Yomi was a work of art visually, but utterly devoid of any fun gameplay. And boy was it repetitive. I rarely give up on games, especially if they have SOMETHING to give, but I just couldn't see this out out.
P.S. Downloaded Turnip boy, it's next!
I wonder if Turnip Boy leaving is a sign the sequel is on the way. To my knowledge it just has a vague 2023 release date. Sometimes services remove the original before the sequel releases anyhow I’m not sure if this is related.
