I’m not usually a graphics snob… but to me this feels like the bare minimum for a remake/remaster. They did say it’s “restored” but it’s pretty basic looking.
In a world where everything gets remade, this just came off as underwhelming but maybe I’m just the minority here. Guess it’s good these games will be on modern platforms, at least.
I've honestly been waiting so long for something like this. I will play with the original graphics! Can't wait.
@WILLBACRIMP I’m also partial to triangle boobs (original graphics).
That's awesome, I'm super excited for this! This is a definite buy for me.
Damn! This looks so cool. I like the approach they were going for, kinda like Ocarina of Time 3D.
I could swear these were already available on Xbox.
3 was solid from the off lol
Such good news, I've been hoping for a remaster for ages! TR1 is brilliant and I still play it yearly. People can malign its controls, but mastering them allows you to pull off some satisfyingly technical moves. Hopefully there will be robust controller remapping included.
I`ll pass thanks and stick with TR memories on my Sega Saturn.
Looking forward to this!!! I cannot wait!
I'd be more excited if it wasn't Aspyr doing it. They do next to nothing with these ports, here we have further proof. I guess they bid the lowest.
Can't wait the 1st 2 games were 2 of my favourite games ever will the tank controls still be the same?
This games haven't aged well at all. Everyone who's excited for this need to remove the rose tinted glasses. You want a good Tomb Raider Trilogy, the last ones they did are the ones to play.
Very interesting. I actually like the visual treatment, I have a weird obsession over old visuals. The fact that you can swap between old and "new" probably won't satisfy most when both modes look dated.
Tomb Raider Anniversary is still my favourite TR game, so playing the original might be a little underwhelming for me, but a few years ago I played TR2 and was legit shocked at how enjoyable it was and not complete unplayable trash like I feared.
@Tasuki I like that trilogy, but they are very different games, even in structure. I desperately want Tomb Raider to go back to the 3-4 huge tombs format, heavy on navigation and puzzle solving, less cinematic.
But that don't sell copies in this day and age. I have ideas in my head how to modernize it though.
Might as well not have the new graphics when they look like that. Definitely will use the original graphics instead.
The first two are some of the best games ever. I look forward to playing them again, especially the first. The anniversary edition was lackluster.
So looking forward to this collection many a memorable moments playing the first one on my Sega Saturn
The original Lara Croft model and control scheme. Very happy with this.
Yet another remaster. How surprising.
Loved the originals back in the day (I beat 3 on my garbage PC running it at 10 frames per second and absolutely enjoyed it, best one in the trilogy), and I am happy that they are available again. But I have Zero interest in revisiting them, Alas I went all the way and imported and payed a huge amount of money to get my hands on the switch cart for the Final Fantasy PS1 remasters (and those had very little upgrades), so I am not one to point fingers at anyone. Good for Lara and her fans.
@Utena-mobile Uh, there was both a Nintendo Direct and a PS State of Play on the same day.
When I saw this on the Direct my first thought was what system to buy it on. Xbox because of my vast collection and have all the 360 games and new trilogy on it or switch because portability... don't want to double dip on this.
Ok so seems to be a sort of "rose tinted" remaster where the textures and lighting are updated along with some quality of life tweaks so it plays like you remember it playing rather than how it actually was with all that PS1 texture warping.
I remember so many late nights playing through those first few TR games with mates. Genre-defining IMO.
Can't say I'm impressed with what I've seen of the remasters though. Might dip in at some point to see if they trigger any nostalgic moments, but only if they're on GP or cheap.
It says 2023 in the article, needs amending 😊
