It's been a few months now since The Last Case of Benedict Fox launched on Xbox Game Pass to mostly positive feedback, but the team has clearly been working hard to improve the experience further as part of a new update.
That update is available now, and it makes some massive changes to the entire game. These include a revamped camera, remastered combat and animations, rebalanced enemies, UI improvements, M&K remapping and more!
Here's the full list of changes in this new Xbox update for The Last Case of Benedict Fox:
- MNK remapping and customizable controller layout
- Revamped/smoother camera
- More responsive controls
- Remastered combat and animation system
- Faster melee and aiming mechanics
- Rebalanced enemies to match increase player speed
- Enhanced easy difficulty with quest markers
- UI and Map Markers for improved progress flow
- UI improvements based on player feedback
- Overhauled piano puzzle with improved camera and updated UI
- Improved stability and performance
- Audio fixes
- Bug fixes
As mentioned, The Last Case of Benedict Fox is already included with Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming, so everyone can get in on the action with this new update.
In fact, those who have been playing on PC should have received this update back in late June as part of "Phase 2" of the game's roadmap, with Phases 3-6 eventually set to feature additional quests, puzzles and various other benefits.

Ok, maybe ill head back to this at some point soon. Map markers, better movement, camera, combat were all things the game needed. It wad pretty hard to play at launch if I'm being honest.
Might check this out again. It has promise but seemed like it needed more time in the oven. Hopefully this update is what it needed!
Does this mean the game is actually ready for human consumption now?
I almost 100% the game. Ended the game and just need to listen to my found records. Of course, when the game ends, that was not possible any more. That issue was told by several people but probably wasn't possible?
But always good if devs keep working on their titles. The Kalypso tennis game had some troubles and after I writing them an email they just said they didn't work/update the game any more because their wotk on that project came to an end.
Then I knew, I didn't had to buy it afterwards either because they probably didn't want me to give them money .
I 100% this game. No need to go back except to see if the movement and game feels better than before.
It was a pretty good game though. I enjoyed the atmosphere and story. Definitely needed a patch or 2. I am glad the devs continue to work on it.
Hmm never really got into it and need to… hopefully this will be the poke to do so…
Abandonned this game after a few hours of play due to everything they have fixed with this patch,Will likely go back to it when I am done with Starfield.
I took a look and left pretty dissapointed when it lunched.
They may have fixed it now and I like to see one day, but with so many games to play Im afraid this is not high up the list...
@munstahunta Literally this.
I wanted to play it but the game just wasn't ready, it felt like early access.
This dropped off my radar completely around launch, having seen so many people complaining about performance issues. Good to hear it's finally in a better state.
I played it for a bit but found control to be kinda cumbersome and ended up uninstalling. I might give it another chance if that improved.
Just in time! I beat the game over a month ago.
This one could really have done with performance and responsiveness improvements far earlier. It was one of my distractions from my higher profile backlog titles. Game Pass will do that to you.
Ben Fox leaves you to figure out a lot, be it puzzles or objectives or mechanics. If you're guide-averse, taking breaks can be key. Glad to see the game getting a significant patch.
@GamingFan4Lyf like you I 100%ed this game at launch and mostly enjoyed it. While I really liked the lack of handholding at times - we actually had to use our brains - I did get lost and walked in circles at other times.
I really wish most/all games would feature a system where you can turn off pathing, or hints, but get them on demand. E.g. in horizon get Aloy to shut up about the solution to a clue unless you press a button. That feels far better than the current solutions.
I want to give this a go now. Taking time off gamepass as I’ve been in a buying spree (been buying physical games for Xbox, felt like I didn’t “own” much). Will pick this up if I see it on sale
