The Last Case of Benedict Fox surprised a lot of us during its Xbox Summer Showcase 2022 reveal. In fact, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer picked it out as one of his personal highlights of the whole show! As it turns out, launching the title on Xbox Game Pass seems to be a highlight for the studio itself as well.
Developer Plot Twist recently spoke with True Achievements about what such a Game Pass deal means for the small indie team. It's a big deal, given the potential size and scope of the audience.
"It’s hard to put into words just how much of a positive influence Game Pass will have on our game [...] It opens up a door for a multitude of different players playing Benedict and, fingers crossed, falling in love with it and its genre. It’s a huge deal for a small studio like ours."
If this one got lost in the noise for you during the big Xbox Summer Showcase, here's some extended gameplay of the upcoming 2.5D Metroidvania. It's scheduled to release on Game Pass at some point in Spring 2023.
Are you as hyped as Phil about this upcoming Game Pass launch? Let us know below!

Certainly piqued my interest with this game-play trailer. It's not a game I would 'buy' as I tend to save my money for AAA disc based games that may well last more than a 'weekend' of playtime.
However, with Game Pass, I get to play a LOT of these 'indie' style games that interests me and because of Game Pass, I am paying much more attention to the titles I know I could try. Now I look to see if the story, the game-play etc looks interesting as I know I don't need to 'worry' about whether or not its worth the money and its not as if you can trade it or sell on ebay (like all digital only games) to recuperate costs if its not worth the money...
Its risk free gaming - the only risk is that I waste a bit of time on something I am not enjoying - much better than wasting £20+ to find out you are wasting your time...
Subscription are more built for small indie games that wouldnt get attention and have much lower cost than for Triple A
This game looked awesome. And the best part of gamepass for me is playing all these smaller games that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Just helps broaden your experiences without the financial risk.
Hopefully game does well. Don't mean anything bad by it, but it could become a Stray type of phenomenon (at least that is my impression from trailers).
It mostly reminds me of Ori. That's not a bad comparison by any stretch.
@Cikajovazmaj Stray involves cats on the internet. No other game will ever have the raw viral hype potential of Stray. Unless it involves more cats and more internet.
One of the highlights of the show. Really looking forward to this one.
@Rmg0731 Bring people in with the Triple A day 1 games and they stay for the awesome indies coming every week or so.
I'm looking forward to this Game. I hope its High quality. Its nice to see quality games hit GamePass, As Dusk Falls this month and hopefully Midnight Fight Express next month. Loving these Indie gems.
Not my type of game, but is surely a nice deal for those who love this game.
