Xbox's chief marketing officer Jerret West has spoken to outlet GamesIndustry.biz about the future of the company's games lineup, and it sounds like they're expecting things to get pretty serious after Starfield.
It's been no secret that Xbox's first-party teams have taken a while to get going this generation, but Microsoft is expecting that struggle to subside with Starfield, along with what comes next from Microsoft's owned studios.
"This very much feels like the starting gun for this relay pass that's going to take place over the next couple of years.
I think we are entering a period where this is the beginning of something that's going to be really special over the course of the next several years."
West goes on to namedrop a few of the team's 2024 titles — namely Hellblade 2, Avowed, and Towerborne — as evidence of things really getting going next year. Of course, there's plenty to come after those games as well like Fable, Perfect Dark, Clockwork Revolution and lots, lots more.
We've seen Xbox dangle the exclusive games carrot for a while we must admit, basically since they started acquiring teams back in 2018, but Starfield really does feel like the beginning of something big for Microsoft. Lets hope the lineup delivers for the rest of the Xbox Series X|S generation and beyond!
