In an announcement that was somewhat overshadowed by the huge Xbox leak yesterday, it was confirmed that the new Age of Empires 4 DLC (titled "The Sultans Ascend") will launch on November 14th for Xbox consoles and PC.
This expansion features a new eight-mission campaign, two new civilisations (Japanese & Byzantines), four new variant civilisations, 10 new maps, two new biomes and new unlockable rewards - all for the price of just £12.49 / $14.99! Better yet, Xbox Game Pass members can also get a 10% discount on this DLC.
We'll throw more details about The Sultans Ascend below, along with a few screenshots:
"Take up arms as the Muslim resistance in the fight against the European Crusades in the dramatic new single player campaign. Follow the story of well-known Muslim leaders, their struggles with the Crusaders, and the battles they fought.
In addition to a brand-new campaign, this feature-packed expansion includes two completely new playable civilizations, the Japanese and the Byzantines, and four playable variant civilizations which revisit and re-imagine civilizations first introduced in the main release of Age of Empires IV. It also includes ten new maps, new unlockable rewards and more."

I got stuck on Tribute campaign (couldn't work out how buy the settlements). I gave the game up. Shame as i was enjoying it up to then.
I've read a few people having the same issue.
Fantastic game! Biggest shame is it was released on Xbox during a crowded schedule. The campaign is absolutely brilliant, so I'm really up for this DLC.
@johnK if I remember, it's just right trigger and the menu button, then press Y (or something similar) to either pay tribute or buy the settlement. The game does tell you to be fair so reload a save if you've gotten yourself confused.
@pip_muzz With quick resume I've gotten out of the habbit of doing saves. I did unstall the game and then reinstalled the next day but all my progress was lost. I've moved on now.
@johnK The game autosaves after every objective mid mission, and keeps them all. You can easily reinstall and continue if you wanted.
@pip_muzz could you kindly tell me, how are the controls and overall game pace on xbox? I've never played an RTS on consoles, but would like to try AoE with a controller.
@Tomato_Goose AOE4 on console is easier than AOE2 I find. There's a lot of holding down shoulder buttons and selecting with the control stick, but I find it works very intuitively. Easy to have groups like PC hot keys even. The game pace depends upon the difficulty you select, I'd recommend easy when learning the controls and increase to a harder one once you get the hang of it. I've put around 30+ hours into AOE4 on Xbox and haven't had one grumble about the control system yet.
@pip_muzz great to hear this, thanks for the reply! Might give AOE4 a try after completing BG3 then.
@pip_muzz
Thanks. I installed again and did find the autosave. AOE defaults to starting the game again from the beginning but you have to quit the game and go back to he main menu. Originally I looked for the save while still 'playing' the beginning of the game and couldn't see any saves..
Are Pure Xbox planning to review the base game on Series X|S?
@johnK glad to hear. Let me know if you have any issues. My favourite campaign was the Hundred Years War one. Very enjoyable.
