Microsoft has announced today that the Xbox Series X will be getting three new "Console Wraps" later this year in the form of a Starfield design, an Arctic Camo design and Mineral Camo design - and they're available to pre-order now.
The Starfield variant is $49.99 and arrives on October 18th, while the others are $44.99 and release on November 10th.
Here's a bit more information about the Console Wraps themselves:
"The wraps were designed specifically for Series X and have a custom, precision fit. Every detail was taken into consideration to ensure your console performance is preserved– vents are all clear, and small feet were added to the bottom of the wraps to ensure air can flow freely through the console.
Made with solid core panels that are layered with high-tech fabric finishes, the wraps are folded around your console and secured with a hook and loop enclosure. The interior of the wraps are printed with silicone designs that keep the wrap in place."
Microsoft says the reason behind these Console Wraps is to provide a form of customisation that's "more affordable and more sustainable than purchasing a special edition or limited edition console".
There's no word on whether we'll be getting more in the future (although it sounds as though we will) or whether the Series S will eventually get in on the action as well, but for 2023 at least, it seems these three designs are the focus.
We'll throw some more images, details and product links for each of these Console Wraps down below.
Starfield Xbox Series X Console Wrap
"The Starfield-inspired console wrap reimagines your console as an on-board avionics module, powering you through your adventures. Key internal console components are highlighted through outlined access panel and game inspired graphics. Technical call outs detail actual console functionality, with an in-game twist.
This wrap has a soft smooth white high-tech feel, with vividly printed surface graphics that are tactile. The internal fabric has a soft precision sheen, with a silicone gravity wave print for cling and stability. Reach through the colorful Constellation ribbon to power your module on, and take to the stars with the bronze metallic Constellation insignia on the wrap closure."
Availability: Launching in the US, Canada and Europe on October 18th.

Arctic / Mineral Camo Xbox Series X Console Wrap
"Wrap your console in our signature Xbox designed woodland camo inspired pattern. Choose between the Arctic Camo grey and white color pallet for a neutral and quiet effect, or make a bold statement with a bright Mineral Camo of modern blues and purples.
Each option has a soft microfiber outside fabric. The internal fabric has a soft precision sheen, with a silicone camo pattern print for cling and stability. Changing the personality of your console, or matching to your Arctic and Mineral Camo controllers is now easy!"
Availability: Launching in the US and Canada on November 10th. Mineral Camo also available in Europe.

That Starfield wrap is 👌🏻 So tempting.
Great idea and no more special edition console. Just get a console wrap to spice things up. Love to see a Elden ring version but that Starfield wrap looks great
Actually pretty cool. Given I like Starfield enough, I’ll probably snag the wrap for it. I was upset I couldn’t get my hands on the Halo Infinite edition console so this could be a nice alternative.
These look terrific, Not a fan of any of the initial ones but excited to see what they come up with in the future.
Finally! There was no good reason these didn't come earlier.
Starfield one is nice. Camo ones look horrendous
I do kind of like that Starfield wrap. Looks nice.
But I really already love the look of the Series X the way it is. It is just a pity that I have not got enough space to stand it upright.
I think these look very well designed, well thought out. Certainly better than some sort of sticker, which is what I first assumed! 😂 They look relatively sturdy too. I do like the Starfield one in particular, but the price is somewhat off-putting. Half that price, and I could easily be tempted...
Would love one but not available in Australia
That's a lot of money for something that can be bought cheaper from Decalgirl or DBrand. Honest worried how well this will transport given my Xbox travels every week.
It's almost like they should have never got away from the swappable Faceplates of the 360.
One of the worst part is how these things have feet to hold them up. Useless for people like me that have their Xboxs hanging up.
Went ahead and preordered the Starfield one. I can see it selling out.
Like the idea. Now I feel they need to keep this up and release these things with every single game they launch going forward. Even the smaller titles like Pentiment or Grounded.
Not saying to go and create them for older games (although would be nice) but instead that they should offer these for all their future game regardless if they are Triple-A or smaller scale. Bonus points if these came with codes to redeem exclusive dynamic backgrounds, maybe even sold bundled with a digital code of the game.
Meanwhile in China there is a factory making knock-off ones from the official designs...

Not something I’d buy. Seems extortionate for what it is.
I think this is a good counter to Sonys plates. I recall stating a while back that Xbox should at least make official custom decals, but this sounds cooler.
Now… where is the Forza one?
Not bad but not worth the price
Lmao…this isn’t something new that Microsoft came up with. While the Starfield one is fairly detailed, and I’m sure their future ones will be as well, there’s also been custom wraps available for like…two years on Amazon for less than half the price with hundreds of designs. Just sayin’
@CutchuSlow 110% agreed
Starfield one pre-ordered. Now my console will match my controller.
If they do a Diablo or Gears of War one i will buy them even if i don’t use them. Just to collect and have. Yeah I’m a nerd…. Sue me!!!! 😊
@BaldBelper78 I work at another large UK retailer that also sells a broad range of video games and from what i'm hearing they won't be selling much for longer. Where I am at the ratio is 2:1 most months 3:1 during the promotion and we sell through a lot of consoles. Nearly 25 million Xbox Series X/S have been sold so it's hardly a disaster for them.
So they're lot of people wanting to spend money to help over heat their console?
@BaldBelper78 Agree with majority of everything you said. Honestly I feel game pass is INCREDIBLY overpriced for what it offers. And where the heck is the annual discount plans? There should be 12 months of game pass ultimate for $100-$150. That is much better price for the quality and quantity being offered.
$16.99 or $10.99 a month is just outrageous for Xbox indie pass.
That is so overpriced though. But then so are Sonys so maybe its just me… but ***** no
@Fiendish-Beaver i thought they were skins as well, but these look much more like something that i would get over a skin.
@redd214 Hi-Fi Rush one would get me ...
@InterceptorAlpha @BaldBelper78
These are not vinyl wraps like DBrand or the various ones you can find on Amazon. These are high quality fabric, embossed wraps that have fun details for your favorite game (games moving forward hopefully) that are easily attached to the console, and removeable. I pre-ordered my Starfield one and look forward to future releases also getting this attention
Could you imagine this idea for the PS5? How would that wrap look?
@BaldBelper78
You are also thinking very narrow minded. Yes Playstation might be outselling them, but one could argue Microsoft has a much more exciting end of 2023 and 2024 than Sony. What are three major titles coming out next to PS5? The only one I can even think about is Spider-Man 2 and it's nowhere near as big of a deal as the next IP from Bethesda.
I’m back to the GC era!! 🥲
@ZuneTattooGuy Im aware of what they are. And my point stands. I carry my either of my Series X, weekly. I'm more worried of fabric tearing or getting snagged on something than I am with vinyl wrap. The same vinyl wrap I cover automobiles and motorcycles in. Vinyl wrap holds up amazingly well against rocks and road debris when flying down the interstate.
This is essentially them trying to bring back Faceplates from the 360, but in a goofy way. They should have just never went away.
That's so to say nothing of about the 1/2"/12.7mm thickness increase it looks like this gives across two axes.
You can also see where the case has feet on it to keep it from sliding down. So if you're like me and have both your Series Xs hanging up, this won't work.
So yea, gonna be a pass from me.
@ZuneTattooGuy BaldBelper78's take is not only narrow minded, he's selective in the metrics he refers to, either through ignorance of the full business model Xbox now operate or through bad faith, I'm not sure which.
@J_Mo_Money Was thinking "hard pass, total waste, etc." Then you had to go and bring up HI Fi Rush version. Would be tempting
@BaldBelper78 Not going to change the fact that Sony had to do a Big price drop to get those sales looking more impressive, also not going to change the fact that PS5 has had no First party exclusives this whole year and only has one first party AAA title for the rest of the year.
This is brilliant. I preordered the Starfield one right away. Now I got it all, Constellation, headphones and controller. Seriously the finest design I've ever seen. So glad to have a full set.
@Sifi your argument there is flawed, no games but yet still are outselling? Why aren’t people buying an Xbox or subbing to GPU? ( growth has pretty much stalled across both GP and PSPlus) what is the reason for it?
Pretty much every metric out there has Sony sales increasing, Xbox sales dropping. Why? When until recently the series X undercut the ps5, and of course the S is far cheaper. What is stopping people going out to pick up a series console?
@ZuneTattooGuy ps5 already had this, it has the removable plates, which are pretty much the same price.
The camo versions for both consoles are horrible
@LoquaciousB
It's incredibly narrow minded. You'd have to be blind not see what Microsoft has been doing since the middle of the last generation. They are buying up a numerous amount of varied studios and they are all busy making games. Making games takes time, and those planted trees are about to bare fruit. Sony has not been doing the same, they have done the opposite. Their once diverse portfolio of studios and IPs have all been boiled down into over the shoulder third person action adventure games, and whatever Gran Turismo has become. They have no swords in the fire for this generation they have blew their load.
@BaldBelper78 Phil Spencer just got the Yakuza and Persona series on Xbox, helped complete the Bethesda deal and ABK deal and saved the Xbox one the best anyone could. Fired for what? When you aren’t the biggest name in the game and you (not Phil) launch the Xbox one, you fall so far back that it takes a generation or longer to get back users from PS and other platforms. Name me one guy that could walk in and make Xbox sell 1-1 with PS5. There isn’t one. Square said it was cause of Phil they are happy to bring FF to Xbox. You think ole Peter Moore could make that happen? What about Kojima himself? Worrying about sales numbers vs the personal enjoyment of a console of your choice is insanely non important to me. I have 260 hours into Diablo 4 and there is ZERO, negative zero chance i am playing that on a Sony controller. Not even sure i want to play it with KB&M but that would be my second choice. Phil Spencer is the reason we even have a Series console. Think on that.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner
Nice removable ps5 plates are kinda worthless when you don't often see your ps5 from it's side.
I buy a few of these if they had them. Diablo, Gears of War, a all white one. I am not thrown off by the price cause if they are made really well and they look to be. What isn’t $50 bucks these days? I see some saying they should be $10-15 dollars. It cost half that to put it in a box and send it. There’s no way. Would it be great value at $40? For sure, but that isn’t going to make much profit and these are for the hardcore only. Jimmy and Kimberly aren’t buying these to play FIFA, Madden and COD all year. They could care less what color the consoles are.
@HonestHick
I'm already waiting for the Machine Gun Game's Indiana Jones wrap
@ZuneTattooGuy also could be cool. Want to learn more about that game.
ok but here's a better idea Xbox, why don't you make a limited edition starfield series x console. sell it on the Xbox digital store for $499.99! it would sell like Hot Cakes
I’ll wait for a cheap copycat one.
I'd like a black one for my series s!
@Bobarino I gave up and bought a series x because of the white and needing more hard drive space.
This warps will become collectibles.
Nothing for the S?! 😒☹️
Wait the Starfield one is not in the UK?
I must admit I'm very much tempted by the Starfield one.
Would be perfect to match the game and the controller.
@K1LLEGAL Yes, it is available in the UK. I clicked on the link and it took me to the UK store and I purchased the Starfield one for £44.99.
Edit: Just checked and it would appear they're now sold out as it says they're out of stock. I wonder if the scalpers scooped up many of them 🤔. Hopefully they'll become available again.
Nice. There's been those Vinyl stickers you could put on, but they were so hard to get off again (and then couldn't be reapplied). So something that's not permanent and can be changed over easily is good. The price is a bit steep though.
This is a nice touch, if these wraps are good and you can get a custom one or design Labs thing, would be awesome!
Nice idea, will see if it catches on.
@PhileasFragg Price is ok, as ever it will come down or offers will appear for wraps I hope.
@LoquaciousB ah thanks for the reply. Good job scalpers as always.
@thecricket lol I feel hard. Seen it and ordered it. I’ve been wanting a white series x and seen that and ordered immediately
The biggest thing is that it don’t stick to the console and can be replaced. Love that.
I like the idea of giving my XSX a "jacket" but I outgrew these sorts of things, I think. Maybe if there was a Forza one? Maybe they will make a thicker one, so you can put it in the freezer and cool down your XSX (wine cooler idea)
And we all know: The only copycat company is Sony. Right?
Can't wait to see what dbrand says about this
$50 seems a bit steep and the wrap in the video seems kinda cheap quality wise, I'd rather spend that money buying Starfield. Perhaps on sale these will sell. I'm guessing that's where these will be by holiday season.
@LoquaciousB Exactly!!
Knowing me I would still put it on lopsided. I’d take a replacement shell though.
At first I thought that these were going to be just stickers.
But these are actually well made.
It reminds me of Nintendo and the =New 3DS= with swappable faceplates.
I was hoping that M$ would make a White XSeX, but this is nice too.
I might go for the "Mineral Camo."
@lechugajr Yeah it would be. Have the dynamic background on my xbox right now still of hi-fi rush. Such an awesome splash screen.
