Hogwarts Legacy has been one of the biggest launches of 2023 so far, but the team doesn't seem to be hanging around when it comes to moving onto something new. Looking at a new job listing posted by developer Avalanche Software, the studio is already working on its next major project.
Avalanche is hiring for a 'Jr Software Engineer' to "create what’s next" following the launch of Hogwarts Legacy.
Here's a bit more that this job listing uncovers:
"Join the team behind the blockbuster open world, action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create what’s next!
As a member of our studio's engineering team, you will collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to develop immersive gameplay experiences with industry leading visuals."
The listing doesn't mention anything about a Hogwarts Legacy sequel specifically, but it's hard to imagine that the folks over at Warner Bros. aren't keen on another Harry Potter-themed title given the game's popularity since launch.
We do know that Avalanche currently has no plans for Hogwarts Legacy DLC, so it makes sense that work on their next project is underway. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one - we very much enjoyed the first game and would certainly be interested in playing a sequel!
Would you like to see what a Hogwarts Legacy sequel would look like? Or would you prefer something entirely new from the team? Leave your thoughts down below.

Call me interested. Hogwarts Legacy is a solid game and this team can deliver great things on a second entry (either a sequel or something new)
One of my dream games is basically Hogwarts Legacy but with the Harry Potter-ness stripped out and My Hero Academia put in its place.
Avalanche? 😁
@Markatron84 you'd hardly be at school what with the amount of times the students get attacked 😂
@Cherip-the-Ripper mostly by that sh*thouse Bakugo 🤣
More power to Contraband development? Probably not .....
Amazing game! Finished a few days ago. Would totally buy a sequel.
I'd be well up for a sequel of this! It didnt do much new, but what it did, it did very well. It was nice to see a good working product released for a change - more please!
i really loved hogwarts legacy but there was soooooo much quality of life stuff and testing that needed to be done. it was oviously rushed out to save money, considering how succesful it became that was unforgivable but i can't imagine what kind of octopus fingered yes men they had as play-testers , they need some older gamers in there to tell them what is a pain and what should be better.
just all the time i was like: ' just this little thing here would make it so much simpler and more fun to play'etc..
i would hope they could really go to town with a sequel now all the building blocks are set down but i don't know how they could make a sequel as fun as the discovery and learning your way around was a massive part of what i loved about it.
@endlessleep Not the same Avalanche. This Avalanche Software, not Avalanche studios
@AverageGamer my bad you're right ... They just had to have same 'Avalanche' on the front lol
If it means another Hogwarts game, with the same quality - and the same attention to detail - then I’m definitely interested. There is no need for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, though. That story was wrapped up nicely. So a new story, please, in the same sort of era. I know, I’m not asking for much, am I?
@Matthewnh
funny i was thinking the way to make it fresh would be a different era lol
Hogwarts Legacy is definitely up there with the best games I've played. Completed first play though and started second (different house and different choices). I'd totally buy the next game from this team of developers, be it Potter related or not.
