Ahead of a full reveal within Warzone, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been announced by Activision, and we have an official launch date as well. This year's CoD will release on November 10th - as a direct sequel to last year's Modern Warfare 2.
The above teaser does little aside from dropping that name and date, but it does confirm that Captain Price will of course return as a core character, alongside the tease of an old Modern Warfare villain returning in this year's game.
Late last month, Activision confirmed that the then-titled 'Call of Duty 2023' will be fully revealed within Warzone this month, so you can expect more details on the game during MW2 and Warzone Season 05.

Curiously, this teaser has no kind of tie to Xbox or PlayStation - we're used to seeing one of the two big platform holders slide in a splash screen at the end there, depending on who has the marketing rights. Of course, this is just a teaser, so we'll see how that all plays out as more of the game gets revealed.
Will you be playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this year? Let us know in the comments!

I will just wait till MS fixes tbe older CoD games and puts them on Gamepass. No interest in a mockery of a CoD game.
I hope Microsoft puts the whole series on Ice for a couple years, I want them to go several years in between releases and make games that matter. This annualized garbage isn't worth anyone's time
@ZuneTattooGuy yeah, COD should have been turned into a platform in and of itself years ago. It's a $70 game released annually, packed full of microtransactions that generally don't carry over into the following year's game. Plus, they're constantly adding old maps into new COD games, which seems like a lot of wasted effort that could be directed somewhere else
COD multiplayer should be free to play and just be iterated on and evolve, the way Fortnite does it. Same goes for annual sports titles.
If the Activision deal is wrapped up then this should be on gamepass day one
@Dan1283 pretty sure 2025 COD will be the first Gamepass Day One release. I have read that multiple times (but I don’t have a source so 🤷♂️). It’s due to Playstations current deals i believe.
Edit: however… not sure if that means it can’t come “Day Two”
So we're getting two Modern Warfares in a row?
Getting a little weird. And I'm sure it won't have 4 player split screen like BLOPS
I bought Vanguard for $20 and MW2 for $50 last year as my first CoD games since the mid-360 era. I actually enjoyed Vanguard but MW2... it was difficult to even hop into a game due to the cluttered menu shoving battle passes, micro-transactions, and ads down your throat.
Plus they made some modes rotate in-and-out like gun game. I paid for this game, I shouldn't only have access to certain game modes "every now and then".
Huge fall from grace for me and I have zero interest in this new game, especially with their lack of gameplay shown. No wonder people are more excited about the servers working for the older titles than this new game.
@Altaria_97 Look into Ubisoft's XDefiant due out here soon. It plays alot like the older CoD games and best of all its free. I played the beta and loved every minute of it.
I really like Call Of Duty, but yearly releases feel too rushed. I hope they switch it up to one entry every 2-3 years with Microsoft. I want more Activision titles besides this one.
Great, maybe they can focus on an Infinite Warfare sequel next since it's very deserving of one.
@Markatron84
I thought they did nowadays, since wz?
Been playing cold war for a few days and I've surprisingly found out that I have some reticles and skins and whatnot. It all says it's from some season pass or sth as well, figured it's from an older game.
Will blast its way onto Game Pass when? That’s all I care about because I’ll never buy an Activision game again now they are all going to be on Game Pass.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I'll admit I haven't bought a COD since Black Ops 4 in 2018, and before that Advanced Warfare in 2014 🤣 I know Activision made a big thing recently on Twitter about players' skins carrying over from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3, so it must be pretty out of the ordinary.
I would rather spend $70 on multiple old CoD games. Here's hoping after Microsoft gets Activision the old CoDs go just a little bit lower when the sales happen.
I will be skipping this year's entry completely. Hoping Treyarchs entry next year will be a lot more interesting.
@Cherip-the-Ripper In Cold War you could unlock skins by doing challenges in warzone.
@Markatron84 They're only carrying over because this year's entry was meant to be a premium add-on to MW2. Had heard it was going to be single player story only at one point.
@Tasuki can they Xbox one x enhance the older ones too.
Why can't we get a remaster of Modern Warfare 3 from 2011? We got one of the first 2. Story would probably better as well.
Just finished the campaign of MW2 this weekend, REALLY enjoyed it. Crazy to think this will be first party for Xbox. Startfield, Forza, then MW3 to finish the year. What an absolute banger of a way to end 2023!
