We've got a blast from the past returning to Xbox next week in the form of Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, which is a brand-new instalment in the classic beat 'em up franchise that originated back in 1987.
Rise of the Dragons follows the early beginnings of the young Double Dragon brothers in a "fresh roguelike" take on the series in which "every playthrough is a brand new chance at new action".
Although it's not yet available to pre-order on the Xbox Store, we're expecting this new Double Dragon experience to be priced pretty reasonably - the physical version is going for around £24.99 / $29.99.
We'll throw some more details about Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons down below:
"Explore the early beginnings of the young Double Dragon brothers as they take on both new and familiar enemies in this alternate story. In this fresh roguelite take, every playthrough is a brand new chance at new action. Featuring a unique and dynamic level structure, the difficulty of the missions you take on will change depending on the order you have selected them."
"Tag in and out as the classic duo Billy and Jimmy, switch it up with Marian and Uncle Matin, or experiment with 9 additional unlockable characters, each with their own special moves and unique playstyles. With 2 player local co-op, the action quadruples as you and a friend clean up the mean streets."

Not sure why they made the sprites more silly-looking than the original arcade (or even the NES version). I'm not digging it. Hopefully, the gameplay is intact.
Looks really cool. I would have preordered already if it was on the Store.
Interested in this, just not at launch. Unlike River City Girls 1 or Battletoads 2020 at least they're adding Online Co-op later on.
I don't know about this one, still would have preferred a Double Dragon Neon 2 over this game.
Seem some videos of this, looks good, don't mind the art style, and as long as it plays smooth it should be a decent double dragon game
Not double dragon.
This is another game completely with "Double Dragon" slapped on the cover title.
@BeerIsAwesome Through Technos and Tradewest. I think Technos was the dev and Tradewest published the NES version, at least. It's been 35 years. The River City games borrowed the art-style/assets. I think those were Technos games also. I can't remember exactly who made the arcade version.
Double Dragon was a phenomenon at the time. There were a number of games "inspired" by DD like Bad Dudes from Data East. The next big thing was SFII, and that series is still going strong.
I don't like childish characters. Final Fight got it right 24 years ago.
Definitely has my attention. Already ordered it on Amazon.
