Long before No More Heroes 3 arrived on current generation Xbox platforms, Grasshopper Manufacture released the action-adventure title Shadows of the Damned on multiple consoles including the Xbox 360.
Now, in a surprise announcement, the developer has revealed it will release a remaster of the same game. It's currently in development and is coming soon. No platforms have been announced at this stage, but more will be revealed at a special Grasshopper "Direct" broadcast next week.
In the meantime, here's some PR about it. You can also check out the amusing but graphic skit in the video above, featuring Goichi "Suda51" Suda in the background.
"Originally released in June 2011, Shadows of the Damned invited gamers to assume the role of Garcia, a hard-as-nails, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding professional demon hunter who finds his true love kidnapped by vengeance-seeking demons.
As he explores the furthest reaches of the netherworld, Garcia battles through Hell and back, with danger and turmoil around every corner. Gamers will find themselves challenged by demented puzzles and thrust into gruesome battles with vile and deformed creatures that can only come from the darkest recesses of Hell. More details will be revealed about the remaster at Grasshopper Direct next week!"
Once again, more details about this upcoming release will be revealed next week via the official YouTube broadcast. Notably, the online servers for the original Xbox 360 version were actually taken offline earlier this year.

Random haha. I tried getting into this, seeing as it had silent hill music composer attached couldn't lose myself in it. Will maybe try again with a remaster
Beat this back on 360, was a hell of a ride. Played just like RE4, but with the absurdity of Suda51. Was a really fun romp, but def only a 7/10. With enough polishing and smoothing out the rough edges it could be a solid 8-9 though, it has the potential. Give it more of an RE5 set up - aka more actions, stuns and melee attacks….
Amazing! Been wanting to play the ps3 version for while but thank god i waited this long
The good: This is one of my favorite games, a remaster would be amazing.
The bad: I just tracked down and bought the 360 version a week ago for a very high price (at least they throw me a Dante’s Inferno copy as a bonus)
Wont need to dig the Ps3 out for this and Lollipop Chainsaw anymore
One of my favourite games of all time. I played it on the Xbox and got every achievement, which, if I recall correctly, meant playing the game through at least 3 times. Absolutely stoked for this! Indeed, I was so happy with my time playing SotD, that I pre-ordered Lollipop Chainsaw. Really I cannot say whether LC was a good game, as I didn't get very far in it, as it was such a departure from Shadow Of The Damned that I soon gave up. I was left very disappointed.
I'll definitely be pre-ordering the remaster though. Very happy teddy bear today...
Lollipop Chainsaw is supposed to be getting the same thing too.
Enjoyed this and as mentioned above Lollipop Chainsaw looking forward to both should the end up being released.
The fact that that's how they announce the remaster and their direct is why Grasshopper is one of the best studios.
But are they going to keep all the d*** jokes, and are you going to run around on your girlfriend's gigantic breasts, is what I'm wondering. I personally hope they do.
They need to fix that final boss battle though, cuz it suuuuuuuucked.
Niiice! Grasshopper is one of my favorite studios out there.
Now, Capcom, please release the IP of Killer7! You are doing nothing with it!
Haha this is a win !
I kept looking at this game during the 360 days but never took the plunge. If it's a good remaster, I think I'll give it a try this time around.
