Following multiple closed gameplay tests over at Ubisoft, the team has announced another gameplay test session for XDefiant - its upcoming free-to-play shooter. This time it's an open test though, meaning anyone can hop in and play ahead of the full game's summer 2023 launch.
That test goes down from June 21st through June 23rd, across all current-gen platforms including Xbox Series X and S. For now, we don't have a launch date for the full game, aside from "later this summer".
We may not have a full release date yet, but the dev team is already talking about post-launch plans here. The above roadmap image shows everything coming in the game's 'preseason', while they're also aiming to launch one map per month after release.
April's XDefiant beta was very popular, so we'd imagine this open test session will be jam-packed with FPS fans later this month.
Will you be playing this upcoming XDefiant test? Let us know!

The game looks to beat CoD at its own game. I wish Ubisoft some success with this one.
Let’s just say this is good timing.
@Suda52 I agree. I gave up on CoD long ago when they became too big to fail in the BLOPs era and then came back to the series for BLOPs 4 and stuck around up until a little after Cold War came out. You could tell that the teams pushed just a bit harder because they were exploring new territory… until Cold War was a dud and Vanguard played things so safe that I gave up on the series again. The gunplay is so solid in CoD, but Activision has no issue with the series going stale in level design or gameplay loops. With the series having no real competition currently, it’s clear the series needs an upset.
This will be my go to FPS now that CoD is dead.
Happy this going to be on Xbox One also. Looks pretty good and I’d be up for playing this. Be a nice change from COD.
Not my thing, I'm not into multiplayer shooters unless they also happen to have a campaign (and then only for said campaign) but interesting to see the reactions so far.
I sure hope Ubisoft gets a hit in the service game arena so it can starts subsidizing the rest of their operations and I can stop worrying about the future of Assassins Creed.
Does it have kbm support on console? If anyone confirms imma install to hop in
