Following the title's appearance at May's PlayStation Showcase, Alan Wake 2 has cropped up again at Summer Game Fest 2023 - with developer Remedy showing off some raw gameplay for the very first time.
It's not a long clip by any stretch, but the roughly three minutes of footage is enough to reassure us that Remedy is very much on the right track here. Visually we're getting some big Resident Evil remake vibes with this demo, mixed in with the style of Alan Wake of course!
We're super excited to go hands-on with Alan Wake 2 later this year, and it's great to know that we don't have long to wait at all. Remedy's highly-anticipated sequel lands on Xbox Series X|S on October 17, 2023.

Alan Wake 2 gameplay without actually having the character Alan Wake. I hope he doesn't get sidelined in his own game.
I still haven't finished the first one. I pick it up every once in a while and get a little further each time until I get stuck again. It's been going that way for a few years now.
Any updates on a physical release of this game?
I really hope this isn't an example of the full game. I'm fine doing an intro character for an hour or two. Will be lame though of you don't play as Alan for the majority of it. Definitely worries me as the first is one of my all time favorite games.

Gameplay looks about the same as the first which came out 13 years ago. I'd hardly say an RE clone.
Ohhhh man. So tempted to pre-order but will never do it. Still looks amazing!
Gave me a xfiles vibe - so I don’t care if I am playing Mulder or Scully…
So here is a take some of you may or may not care to see. My outdoor hobbies are shooting guns and fishing. The first thing i noticed in Alan Wake 2 was that was some of the best sounding pistol shots in a game that i have ever heard. It was fairly accurate and stood out to me. I normally don’t comment on sound for games cause online most people focus on graphics and frame rate, which i understand. Who doesn’t like good graphics and smooth frame rate. But i game in the media room at my house and have a $2,800.00 dollar surround sound and games have gotten so much better in sound this gen and those pistol shots in Alan wake 2 impressed me. Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos on Xbox is a game changer with the right gear. I have the Xbox Series X hooked up to the same LG Oled Tv and surround sound as the PS5 and sound wise even tho Sony’s proprietary sound engine is impressive it fails to compare to Dolby Atmos. This looks decent even tho i beat the first game and never went back to it. Most games i truly love i beat 2 or even 3 times. I would play it in a heartbeat on GP, but probably not full price.
I'm a big fan of the previous game, but if it has PlayStation exclusive content, I won't play it. Yeah, I haven't played Control either.
