It's official! Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been announced today as part of the PlayStation Showcase 2023, with the confirmation that it'll not only be coming to PS5, but also Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
In addition, we're likely getting a "Master Collection" of the first three original games in autumn of this year. This would mark the debut for Metal Gear Solid (1) on an Xbox console, although for now the collection is only confirmed for PS5. The game's website mentions it'll be on "the latest platforms", so we'll keep an eye out for an Xbox announcement.
Here's what Konami had to say about the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake in a press release (thanks IGN):
"We are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved installments of the Metal Gear series, revealing the origin story of Snake, as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. We are working hard for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience."
There's no date for this one just yet, but we'll obviously let you know when we get further details.
Looking forward to the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake on Xbox? Tell us down in the comments below.

Why is it called Metal Gear Solid Triangle now? I don't get it.
@Fraser Gilbert If u check the oficial site, they say latest plataforms in plural so I belive ITS really coming ti Xbox/steam. (Check the developer notes)https://www.konami.com/mg/mc/us/en/
@GASEOUS Good spot! Yeah, it looks like it's going to happen... just waiting for that confirmation!
MGS 🔺looks great
But I Honestly can’t wait for MGS◼️
Nice. Definitely will nab so long as its not utterly broken. Still wondering about the old collection though.
Amazing game back in the day.. I cannot wait to play this on my Series X..
Xbox burned PlayStation http://twitter.com/Xbox/status/1661489113814679553
Seems collection is multi platform:

@Kaloudz I think 3 was more beloved than 1.
Plus, in terms of canon, it's the first "beginning" of the timeline.
Hyped, haven't played MGS3 in ages.
@Kaloudz Metal Gear Solid 3 is the first game chronologically in the series.
@Sveakungen Hopefully vol. 2 includes MGS4 (and would be available for the first time outside the PS3).
I wonder if you will have a choice to play Twin Snakes version for MGS1. I love that one!
@Kaloudz Oh god don't remind me of the Silent Hill HD Collection.
I believe the collection is coming to Xbox as well, due to the exclusion of mgs 4, which Sony has exclusive rights to.
I couldn't give a flying fart in the wind about the Remake. I want MGS1!
I'll definitely check it out.
I want Hideo Kojima
I played it for the first time last year (MGS HD Collection) but most likely is a day one buy for me. It is an absolute masterpiece!!
@BrilliantBill
But CoD mw2 2022 and 2009 are different games
Mgs delta is a remake of MGS 3
@Kaloudz
It seems so, but would they remake original metal gear too?😂(metal gear, not metal gear solid)
Unless they're going all out, I'll just assume with this new info they lied about getting MGS Collection 2 & 3 relisted this year.
But without Kojima?
@BrilliantBill I dunno, man, Capcom remade the first four Resident Evil games without giving them weird titles. Shadow of the Colossus remake didn't have a weird title. I feel like it's really not a huge issue most of the time. If anything, calling it MGS Delta (thanks for that, @Wheatly) is going to cause more confusion than anything.
Honestly, the remakes should simply had removed the numbers and just give kept the subtitles:
Metal Gear: Snake Eater (remove the "Solid", anyone that played it would understand why I say this.)
Only the "first" one should be called Metal Gear Solid.
It is what it is, though. I'm guessing they will use random greek alphabet letters in the future remakes. Wonder if "Solid" will be "Alpha" or pick a greek alphabetical order that goes after Delta.
@Kaloudz The Twin Snakes is a remake of Metal Gear Solid. I played that remake on Gamecube and loved it. Then I played 3 on 3DS (not ideal) and V-I and V-II on PS4, that have great gameplay and graphics (and a daft story by Kojima), I think we have talked about them. I got the Xbox 360 games for my Series X, that is 2, 3 and Peace Walker but I haven't played them. The remake of 3 is welcome but I don't get the Delta, it's either 3 or no number. Other IPs have ditched the numbers.
Now please remake the Silent Hill games for Xbox and not just PS5!
Reminder Kojima has nothing to do with this the terrible people who made Metal Gear Survive do
This is not even a teaser ...
@Ralizah
But Capcom didn't start with RE3, but your right, calling it MGS delta is going to cause confusion
Is it possible they want new players to think it's a new game and not a remake?
With the Collection, I wonder if you will have to look on the back of the box to get a codex code?
And the 1,2 and 3 bundle?
Really glad this is coming to Xbox as well, I'll play on PS5 personally as that's where I feel like it belongs but I'm glad no one's missing out
@Kaloudz
Nope, metal gear is the first game in release order, and after that there's metal gear 2, and then metal gear solid
@Kaloudz I don't like Bloober's work either. Layers of Fear is ridiculous and The Medium is mediocre at best. I would be happy if they just fixed the Silent Hill HD Collection, something that they have never done on Xbox in spite of being backwards compatible. The PS3 version is slightly fixed. Actually, I don't have the HD Collection so you and @Utena-mobile know more about it. I would love to have the classic Silent Hill games available on Xbox and not need a PC emulator for them. Otherwise, I'll play them on PC someday. I've only played Shattered Memories on Wii so far. I agree about the numbers, they are very convenient! Without them, you need Wikipedia 😂.
@Kaloudz
They're canon😁
But only the MSX2 version is canon, NES version isn't canon
@Kaloudz Spot on, as always, mate. I respect Bloober, but I think they're not ideal for an SH remake. In fact, in the first trailer shown, I already felt the usual Bloober awkwardness in graphics and design.
@Kaloudz You played SH Collection on Xbox? I played it on PS3 and I had no problem, even if I did know that there was a game breaking bug on both consoles (I think it was related to the trophies/achievements). Of course, it was not an ideal remaster!
@Kaloudz
Funny, I had MGS 5 and I didn't play it too😂
MGS 5 isn't a complete game(literally), but I heard it's a good game.
you played MGS 2, but I'm not sure, never played a metal gear game before, but I will!
@Banjo- The SH2 remake is timed PS exclusive so will have to wait and see
But MG 3 remake is a nice start tho
@Kaloudz That Silent Hill HD experience sounds horrible.
Metal Gear Solid V story is daft, the gameplay and graphics blew me away back then @Wiiiiiiii
@Wheatly Well Delta is the third letter in the Greek Alphabet so maybe has to do with "3". Also it's used as the symbol for "change" or "difference between" so maybe that refers to it being updated? A bit of a stretch there though.
@Banjo-
Yeah, the gameplay was very smooth(and still is) and the graphics were one of best I have ever seen
*I played the game for 2-3 hours
@Wheatly Damn ancient Greeks. Why couldn't they put their letters in alphabetical order? No wonder they didn't last.
@Wiiiiiiii I had little to play back then, I beat it completely 😁.
@Kaloudz 3 is the best one ,and the first one in order
I bet it will run worse than ps5, worse performance
So we are getting "The Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol I" which includes
I assume Vol 2 Will have
I find it interesting that for this remake Konami is calling it Delta and not 3. Maybe they plan on over the next 15 years or so remaking all 5 and maybe even Peace Walker games. If they did this they could essentially drop the numbers and just title them and then release them according to their timelines and maybe properly finish 5.
@Utena-mobile What remakes did Bluepoint make using reverse engineering? I applaud them.
Thanks a lot for explaining the development story of Silent Hill HD Collection so well. So what are the remaining issues on Xbox? @Kaloudz says that he couldn't beat one of the games or is it on Xbox 360 and not on Series X? I'm tempted but I am going to wait a bit longer.
Another question, they say that Konami didn't patch the Xbox 360 version but then those people mean that they didn't patch it after fixing the PS3 version. What things are better on the PS3 version?
@Ashadelo The ending of V is literally repeating the last missions LOL. I had never seen that before in my whole life. So, if this collection is called Volume I then we can assume that there is a Volume II... 😊
@Kaloudz Yes, the story of V which is what Kojima made is bad, in my opinion. The gameplay, graphics and performance are awesome so the developers' work is excellent. The game is enjoyable but very challenging.
@Kaloudz Nope, all games are different stories and the best part about them is the gameplay. There are a few references and recurring characters but they don't leave you wondering what the heck is going on and what did I miss. You can only play V and you'd be fine. V-I (Ground Zeroes) is stunning. V-II (Phantom Pain) has a very original introduction and after that the whole game is about the gameplay with HQ explaining each mission. There is also a bit of HR management and a dog that eventually joins you. It's a game that feels real, you have to call the helicopter each time you need it and meet it at the rendezvous point. The ending is repeating the last missions and little else. It's weird and rushed.
@Kaloudz Play Ground Zeroes, it's just one mission that you can tackle in different ways. It's a demo that was sold as a half-priced game, I have both games separately 😅.
@Utena-mobile I have the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Peace Walker on Xbox but I haven't played them.
I didn't know about the tapes so I played Phantom Pain normally. Ground Zeroes is great as a demo, as a tutorial and it's fun. I didn't stop until I got the S ranking and unlocked the little extras.
@Utena-mobile Just to clarify, I've beaten The Twin Snakes, 3 on 3DS and both parts of V as soon as they were released. I still have to play the HD Collection (2 and 3) and Peace Walker. So now all games are on Xbox except 4, right? Because Volume I brings 1, 2 and 3, plus the separate 3 remake. So would Volume II be 4, Peace Walker and 5? The selling point would be 4 because it's stuck on PS3 to date.
@Utena-mobile And I haven't told you all: The Twin Snakes on Gamecube and 3 on 3DS because I was a Nintendo fanboy until last generation. V-I and V-II on PS4 because it was my first and last Sony console. I settled down on Xbox 😁.
I didn't know about all those side games but I think it's likely that all the games are included. Ground Zeroes has significant retro extras considering how short the game is and the main games have been re-released before except 4. Perhaps, Volume III is retro and side games.
@Utena-mobile Kid Dracula is a good example of Konami's game preservation 👌🏻. Yes, Xbox One (my first Xbox console) was a much better experience than PS4 regarding hardware, software, controller, services and, most of all, I love the backwards compatibility. I upgraded to Xbox One X which is amazing compared to PS4 and PS4 Pro and then to Series X which is technically the best console ever. Beside, Xbox has Rare Replay and it was enhanced! Nintendo has changed and lost much of its magic.. And you?
@Kaloudz Kojima burnt the budget's money and couldn't meet the deadline, that's why the relationship with Konami deteriorated. Konami decided to split the game in two so they could release something earlier but it's just one mission in a different place. As a demo is excellent, as a half-priced game is (was) a rip-off 🤣.
@Utena-mobile That's a really interesting story! As a Nintendo fanboy, I also thought that Xbox was the worst. These days, it's Sony who is trying to hurt the Xbox userbase while Nintendo is doing their own thing.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion. Nintendo still makes some good games but best Mario 2D game still is Super Mario World, best Mario 3D games are those before Super Mario Odyssey which is really dull. They destroyed everything I love about The Legend of Zelda with Breath of the Wild, not to mention that Double Dash still is my favourite Mario Kart game in spite of having Mario Kart 8 for Wii U and Switch, having paid twice for the same game in the same generation to the same company and having paid additional money for the Wii U DLC and for the Course Pass for Switch. The Course Pass is not available for Wii U in spite of sharing engine and having worse graphics than the main game. So, it's not just the lower quality of their games but their business decisions, the underpowered hardware, the low-quality controllers and their insane obsession with protecting their IPs even if it means hurting the fans that made them rich. I would love them to become a third-party publisher and only pay them for the games.
@Kaloudz I wish I played Kameo after it was enhanced to be 4K and 60fps on Series X. The difference is incredible! It's like a brand-new remaster, for free. Rare Replay is better than ever. Absolutely recommended.
@Kaloudz I hope that you have Rare Replay! Kameo supports FPS Boost and it's 60fps! All the Xbox 360 games were enhanced to be 4K. The original Xbox and the retro games were 1080p from the start.
Yes, Ground Zeroes is a big mission that you can tackle in different ways and it takes place in a different location. It's a short game.
@Kaloudz Jet Force Gemini is frustrating at first but once I got used to it, it became one of the most fun and addictive shooters I've ever played.
@Kaloudz I had not played Jet Force Gemini before but on Rare Replay they added modern controls. The trick is try not to move the camera and move the stick slightly when aiming. I beat it 100%.
Nuclear explosions? Blast Corps. I still have not got the hang of it but they say it's a lot of fun.
@Kaloudz You shouldn't have uninstalled it 😜.
@Kaloudz Ha ha, if you ever try again, play it with a guide because it's more complicated than Banjo-Kazooie.
