DREDGE has been a breakout hit for 2023 so far, with this spooky fishing sim taking the seas by storm since its Xbox arrival in late March. Well, the good news is that even more content is coming to the title throughout the year, as Black Salt Games unveils its 2023 DREDGE roadmap.
The first free update drops later this month, adding map markers to allow players to better identify "dangers, shipwrecks, mysteries, and more". This month's patch will also include your usual array of bug fixes and balance changes, to be fully detailed when the update launches.
The year's second DREDGE update focus on new modes, with the team adding a "passive" mode and a photo mode to the game in Q2. Passive play enables a more relaxed experience, focusing purely on fishing and "enjoying the serene surroundings", while photo mode comes with a brand new character that'll point you in the direction of some cool wildlife to take lots of piccys of.
The team's third free update, coming in Q3 2023, adds a selection of boat paints and flag customisation options for players to personalise their vessel, while finally, the last 2023 update will focus on a paid expansion featuring the "mysterious Ironhaven Corporation". More details on that to come later this year!
So, the seas of DREDGE are certainly expanding throughout 2023, which will be music to the ears of all you spooky fishing fans out there - likely including Xbox Boss Phil Spencer, who was "loving" the game on Xbox last month.
