We know that Xbox boss Phil Spencer is a huge gamer himself — you only have to visit his Xbox gamertag to see that — and he often takes to Twitter to post about his most recent plays. Lately, it's looking like he's putting quite a bit of time into DREDGE, the new spooky fishing adventure from Black Salt Games.
DREDGE has been a huge hit in the three weeks-or-so since its launch, with 7000+ Steam reviews alone adding up to an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' rating. Spencer seems to be enjoying his time with the title just as much, with the game's setting, art style and pacing all impressing the Xbox boss.
DREDGE is available now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, although sadly, it's not a part of Xbox Game Pass at the moment. If that changes in the future, we'll of course let you know - we'd certainly like to see it hit Microsoft's subscription service some day!
Here's a little bit more info about DREDGE if you decide it's something you might want to pick up:
"DREDGE is a single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. Sell your catch, upgrade your boat, and dredge the depths for long-buried secrets. Explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best left forgotten."
Have you tried out DREDGE yet? What do you make of it? Let us know in the comments.

Game's awesome, easy best indie of the year with Oxenfree 2, everyone buy it, it's great
I have this wishlisted and may grab it soon.
I want to finish some ongoing games, trying to finish at least 2 from backlog before buying anything new
This game is fantastic. I thought of getting it on the xbox, but for some reason its £23.99 on xbox and £19.99 on PS, so the choice was made for me.
Where ever you play though, I found this compelling right to the end, which took me about 3 days of play (5 or 6 hour sessions).
Looking forward to playing this, but am hoping it comes to Game Pass. Frankly it's spoiled me. I do still buy indie games outside GP but it's harder to justify with such a long list of GP titles still to play.
Tried the demo on Switch, it's not bad at all. But I'll wait with my purchase for eventual GP addition.
@grumpypotato simplest solution might be the correct one..
Just beat this last night and had a ton of fun. Kind of a bleak atmosphere with exploration, upgrades and adventure game elements. The fishing mini game could have been more compelling but otherwise, there's a reason it's getting so much praise.
@Clankylad That's like me and PS+ lol
@grumpypotato xbox color is green , weed is legal in washington, coffee in washington is like california weed
not a coincidence
I’m not sure I trust Phil’s recommendations anymore.
The last game I played because of him was Vampire Survivors and I lost too much sleep being addicted to that thing that I had to delete it.
I’ll try this one with caution.
No hate but I think Phil’s direction shows his age and generation alot and there’s nothing wrong with pushing indie and the games he does but it seems outdated vs the route Nintendo and Sony goes . I always said he needs to get creative and do exclusive spawn and black panther video games or even black Adam and a defjam fighting with Roc nation and third person StarCraft . With a Mario kart style game having all of Xbox exclusive im also confused why he never pushed anime show and big budget movies yet . Maybe it’s the people he put in charge but nobody is taking risk or attempting to think outside the box with the AAA Lineup in my opinion
