Bethesda has officially confirmed that Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is leaving Xbox studio Tango Gameworks, and the Xbox boss has swiftly commented on the team's high-profile departure.
Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter to thank Mikami for his "leadership" and "guidance" since Xbox acquired the studio as part of its Bethesda acquisition back in 2021.
While it's obvious that Phil and the team will miss the legendary developer as a person, they'll also miss his video game contributions. Just last month the team at Tango Gameworks surprise released Hi-Fi RUSH, a game that Phil himself seems to have been enjoying a lot in recent weeks.
For now, it's unclear what's next for Mikami but we all wish him well. As for Tango themselves, the team should be delivering a brand new Xbox game in around a month or so, in the form of Ghostwire: Tokyo on Xbox Game Pass.
What would you like to see Tango create next? Let us know in the comments below!

mikami really hates Xbox
He refused to make more games for Xbox
@Skedaddle so hifi rush is his last game?
Dude was ready for retirement, no surprise. What a legend.
@rhyno_888 Yeah, I guess so.
Ending on a Hi-Fi, it seems.
@DrJimmyRussler yeah, it's unfortunate that is the case but I'm surprised he hadn't actually left tango sooner.
Usually you see a studio head leave about 2 years after an acquisition and start a new studio (with the Bioware Dr's being a rare exception) even if it's to make just 1 final title independently
