Age of Empires 2 is making its long awaited console debut later this month, and as it's a Microsoft published title, it'll be a part of Xbox Game Pass on day one. However, if you own the PC version already, you won't even need Game Pass to play the console version at no extra cost!
Yep, we often forget about Xbox's 'Play Anywhere' program but it's been confirmed that the initiative applies to Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. PC owners of the 2019 strategy game — as long as it was bought on the Microsoft Store for PC — will be granted the console version at no extra cost later this month!
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition hits Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on January 31st, marking another welcome addition to Xbox Game Pass. Here's what to expect from the RTS title as it hits Xbox:
"Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is one of the most beloved strategy games ever made and coming soon for the first time on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass, featuring brand new mechanics optimized for controller for both new and seasoned players alike.
Enjoy 200+ hours of historical campaign gameplay, 1,000 years of human history and 35 civilizations from the comfort of your living room."

You shouldn't forget about the Play Anywhere feature! For all the endless Gamepass stories here, Play Anywhere is one of the best yet least promoted Xbox features! Crazy.
