Microsoft treated us a fantastic lineup of new Xbox Game Pass games for December 2022 earlier this week, but one of the games that unfortunately appears to have dropped out until 2023 is Hot Wheels Unleashed - GOTY Edition.
In an update on the Xbox Wire website, it's simply mentioned that the game is "no longer coming on December 15th, 2022", with no specific explanation as to why this is the case. You can see the message below:
"Editor’s Note: “Hot Wheels Unleashed – Game of the Year Edition is no longer coming on Dec 15, 2022 as previously announced. We will update with a new date when we have more information to share.”
It's strange that the game is being pulled out of the list so quickly, but then again we've seen this sort of thing before - Gang Beasts, for example, was supposed to arrive in December 2020 but ended up being delayed by six months.
There's no telling when Hot Wheels Unleashed will finally make its way to Xbox Game Pass, but hopefully we won't be waiting quite as long as we were with Gang Beasts. Maybe it could even still arrive this month...?

Why bother to announce the date unless confirmed. I'm guessing that it's either a mistake or the deal wasn't signed in the first place.
They should only announce stuff if deffo coming to Game Pass as avoids disappointment. Annoying that this keeps happening.
Hope it still makes it this month. I traded my PS5 copy after putting 7 or 8 hours into the game and have kinda regretted it ever since. Fingers crossed that it’s a short delay.

Sony released it last month on plus. So, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony greasy fingers had a hand in this.

It's a very solid game. Graphics and the handling of the cars is spot on. The only downside for me is it could do with abit more variety in the environments.. Easily an 8/10.
Great game. Xbox is the only platform I don’t have it on. Perfect arcade racer!
Very odd but I’m sure Microsoft will fill the void with something even better (ahem).
It's currently on Stadia Pro as a game in that library so it's likely this will come to game pass on January 19th the day after Stadia closes down for good.
Somebody probably read the dates wrong and jumped the gun on a licensing deal. They probably have to wait until a previous agreement or promotion is over. Or maybe the publisher wants to wait until after the holiday shopping season. Who knows.
That's a shame, was looking forward to it. It's on the PlayStation service atm but the Gamepass one is listed as the GOTY edition do I'd rather wait to play that one.
