Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward is unleashing its first free-to-play trial period this weekend! You can go hands on with some of MW2's biggest multiplayer maps and modes starting later today, December 15th.
The free trial kicks off at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, and features three playable multiplayer modes across four maps. The trial will be available as a separate download on all platforms, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
As detailed in the above image, CoD mainstay modes Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint will all be playable on three maps; the returning Shipment, along with Farm 18 and El Asilo.
If you're enjoying the already free-to-play Warzone 2.0, this could be a great way to test out the core Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer and see if a full game purchase is worth considering. We're certainly still enjoying MW2 here at Pure Xbox!

Unrelated but I’m pretty hyped. 343 teased Halo Infinite’s season 3 on a live stream last night. They mentioned 2 new cores (lore favourite, SPI/Mirage) and fracture core, Chimera (looks like Crysis dude). Both cores will have the starter 10 cadet coatings and be free like other cores from now on. Also a potential tease of cross core armor coatings. A look at the new BTB map, shroud equipment and DMR.
On top of that they mentioned there’s potentially going to be another previously unannounced event in February where more Reach stuff be unlockable.
On the downside, they confirmed no forge map playlist until season 3. This is something internally that was fought for an end of year release but was pushed back on.
Gotta say I’m surprised they actually showed stuff and not just a complete rehash of what was already released.
