It's been a couple of months now since one of the biggest leaks in gaming history saw development footage of Grand Theft Auto VI leaking all over the internet, and both Rockstar Games and Take-Two obviously weren't happy about it.
Speaking this week as part of an earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick admitted that the leak was "terribly disappointing" for everyone involved, and caused the company to be more vigilant when it comes to cybersecurity:
"With regard to the leak, it was terribly unfortunate, and we take those sorts of incidents very seriously indeed. There's no evidence that any material assets were taken, which is a good thing. And certainly, the leak won't have any influence on development or anything of the sort. But it is terribly disappointing and causes us to be ever more vigilant on matters relating to cybersecurity."
As mentioned by Zelnick, it's not expected that the leak will have any long-term effect on the development of GTA 6, which Rockstar Games also confirmed in a statement back in September.
It could still be a very long time until we see some official footage of GTA 6, but here's hoping we might get some kind of sneak peek next year. It seemed to be coming along nicely in the leak at least!
