Microsoft has officially announced December 2022's Xbox Games with Gold, giving us a look at a couple more games we'll be able to play at no extra cost with our Xbox Live Gold memberships next month.
We were initially hoping for something like Dead Rising 4 for a Christmas theme, but instead we've been provided with two indie games - the first is pixel art shooter Colt Canyon, and the other is classic action game Bladed Fury.
As you might expect, the reaction hasn't been great so far to this month's GwG titles, although Bladed Fury in particular seems to be generating a bit of hype. But what about you? Are you happy with the selection? We want to know!
Let us know how you're feeling about December 2022's Xbox Games With Gold below.

I think they better stop gwg program and focus on gamepass instead... also make online gaming free for all
Should rename it to Trash with Gold another poor month. PS+ Essential is loads better.
Time to get rid and have free online they would get many more new players, don't understand why they haven't already.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to the Xbox gamers. THIS is how you end the year of mediocre to bad titles on GWG. 😒
They both look decent to me.
They're OK, better than some of the recent fare. But fact is they look worse than they actually are due to what the competition is offering.
Some people will never be happy regardless of what is offered but offering a couple of 'indies' that very few have even heard of is guaranteed to upset the majority. Even if they are 'decent' games, the fact that they are not AAA (especially now they have dropped the '360 & older' era games), not a well known IP or even one of the Indie games that people talk about (like Ori, Cuphead, Rocket League etc) will ensure a largely negative reception.
It does feel like they are giving away their 'trash', clearing out their surplus stock of stuff that isn't selling and hasn't 'sold' despite price reductions/sales and now just want to clear their shelves. I know that in reality, there isn't any shelves to 'clear' so to speak as these are not physical copies, but that doesn't stop it feeling like they are clearing out the 'rubbish' they couldn't sell...
Of course, there will be people who love these - games that they definitely didn't already have and better than 'nothing'. You also have the people who made these, felt proud of their creation and happy to reach a number of people who never gave them a chance before.
From my perspective, neither appeal so yet another month goes by where I won't bother adding these to my game library. I see no point in adding to a list of games I could install, but I'll never be desperate enough to as there is so many other options (not all games/gaming) I'd rather do.
Truly terrible. They aren't even trying anymore.
I will definitely not be renewing my gamepass subscription when it expires.
@evan23 what do the free gold game quality have to do with GamePass?
I mean if you don’t enjoy it that’s all good, just curious since I’m context it sounds like gold game selection being poor is the reason.
@Tharsman the background is I converted my Gold subscription to gamepass a couple of years ago for a very small amount of money and that still hasn't expired. So essentially, my current gamepass sub is my old gold sub.
As for gamepass itself, I find it to have little to no value for me. Primarily because the types of games I enjoy playing are poorly represented on gamepass. The few that are there, are generally games I already own by the time they come to come to gamepass.
@evan23 I see, fair enough.
I’ll be sure to give them a go, as it’s a benefit of GamePass Ultimate, well, they’re all rolled into the same offering, so I’ll try the Gold games. At the very least sometimes one out of the family finds a gem they love.
When I was over on the PlayStation side for some years up until recently, I always appreciated Plus but seemed to be one of the few, so who knows, maybe the same is the case for what Microsoft offer.
What a treat getting a couple free indie games tossed my way every month. I'm all for it.
I prefer when they give indie games for free. I have a pretty good barometer for whether or not I will enjoy a AAA game and will purchase the ones I want. Indie games are a crap shoot and I would much rather find the occasional gem in these freebies than get AAA games that I already have or don't want.
@Somebody Well said. I'm glad Somebody spoke up!
This is insane. Gamepass may be more popular bit surely they can stand to give something great away for free
I feel the whole Xbox live service should be discontinued and allow free online play. Also, cancel the GWG bit and further focus on GP whilst adding value to tue service.
