Later this week on 6th November, Halo 4 turns 10 years old. Yes, it's now been a decade since 343 Industries released its first original game about Master Chief and Cortana.
So, has 343 got anything planned? Well, at least one individual does... As noted by 343's Halo community writer Alex Wakeford (via social media), there are a "few things" in the works to make this milestone a special occasion, and he "can't wait to share them":
If you're in need of a quick refresher - Halo 4 takes place almost five years after the events of the third game, where Master Chief and Cortana find themselves on a Forerunner Shield World facing off against a new enemy called the Prometheans.
Halo 4 originally arrived on Xbox 360 in 2012 and was re-released in Halo: The Master Chief Collection in 2014. It was then followed up with Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One in 2015.
What do you think we might see from 343 to celebrate Halo 4's 10th anniversary? Drop a comment below, Spartan.

Even though am in the minority, I constantly say Halo 4 Big Team Battle was BY FAR the best halo multiplayer experience I've ever had with ANY halo multiplayer.
Many crap on it. But find it the only halo multiplayer I enjoyed and played significant time with.
There's a November MCC update so perhaps there's some Halo 4 stuff in that update? Would be really cool if they added in Spartan Ops matchmaking like they had in the 360 version of Halo 4.
While I have fond memories of Halo, even during 343's direction...I've lost all trust with them and their vision. Either they deliberately misunderstood the audience or flat out ignored them, Halo became a true appeal-to-everybody that satisfied almost nobody.
@GuyinPA75 i am with you and i constantly say Halo 4 was a great game. The Graphics and gunplay and sound were all some of my favorite in the series. It was looking like to me and my play style that 343 were going to knock it out of the park and then 5 happened and it was like oh crap they messed up Halo. Infinite to me is a great shooter online, just missing content. But Halo 4 is my favorite game in the series or tied with 3.
Just mentioning Halo 4 reminds me they delisted and killed off all the servers for older Halo games. Not sure what they could do other than add Spartan Ops to MCC, which would be cool. It wouldn't make sense for something like a Halo 4 Anniversary, let alone before Halo 3 gets one, especially while they're lacking manpower.
Bring the Halo 4 maps to infinite. I would love to play Adrift, Complex and Panic Station swat again.
Halo 4 is interesting in the sense that for their first time with the franchise 343 did really well in fact. The main story of it (Didact etc) has flaws, but the story of Cortana's rampancy is handled very well. Great soundtrack (which got hate for being different from before despite being great on its own) and graphics too.
It is just too bad that 5 took so many hard unexpected turns all over the map (in the campaign I mean as I am a strictly SP gamer). So that infinite had to do a whole reboot.
Loved Halo 4 for all of its flaws. The multiplayer was second only to Halo 3 for me, and honestly, the gameplay felt like an improvement at the time, even if it didn’t quite feel “Halo.” The single player campaign was a little iffy. I liked the Didact a lot, but I feel like he didn’t get enough time to establish himself. He could’ve been a legitimate multi-part big bad for the series. Honestly, most of the lore post Halo 3 has that feel to it, where it’s been prepared, marinaded, and yet not spiced right or given proper time to cook, but I’d rather be positive in talking about this game, in particular. I think Halo 4 was the entry I played the most in total. I really think the game deserves celebration. If they brought significant Halo 4 themed content to Infinite, I’d bite. Give us more story content where the Didact returns! … or just some mp maps to Infinite might have me actually boot the game again for the first time in months.
Halo infinite pretty much completely abandoned the narrative from 4 & 5 & left them unresolved aside from some voice logs 🙄
@Utena-mobile yeah the original games are fun but they don't really explore the lore that much , 4 really felt like it made master chief into more of a person rather than just a guy in space / combat suit & was really enjoying the story between cortana & master chief but after hearing infinite just completely ditched that I really lost interest in it
@shoeses I mean... Why run 2 different sets of servers for essentially the same game once MCC was "fixed"? IIRC Reach is still online, if you really want a 343-free experience.
@Would_you_kindly the difference between the original trilogy and Halo 4/5 is that you had to go FIND the lore (by way of the Terminals). There was plenty there, but if you didn't go looking for it, it was just a sci-fi shooter with excellent gameplay and incredible (for the time) graphics, especially in the cutscenes.
@Utena-mobile the first game was made in a manner that there was enough there that if the game did well, there was a way forward for a sequel, but if it ended up being a failure, Bungie could move on and try something else. Halo 2 was "the stakes can't possibly get higher, right?" and quite possibly the best cliffhanger ending in gaming history. Halo 3 finally had some time to explore the John-117/Cortana relationship, but didn't get too deep into it, because the fate of the galaxy hung in the balance.
As someone who's played Halo from the beginning, and has lost track of how many times I've completed the campaigns of the original trilogy, they jumped the shark in Halo 4 and nuked the fridge with Halo 5.
@Would_you_kindly you know what?
... I'm ok with that.
@Arlondiluthel Because now those games have hundreds of multiplayer or co-op Achievements between them that are now undoable? Also, they only kept the servers for Reach & ODST's Firefight Modes up, but you still can't matchmake.
I've been playing Halo since 2001 and Halo 4 is definitely one of my favorites in the series. I loved the game mechanics and smoother analog stick controls, the visuals were some of the very best of that generation, loved the artwork, music, sound effects, and design. Some of the best artists around did some great work on that game and I am still more impressed with the work done on Halo 4 than with 5 or Infinite. I never did get to play much of the multiplayer though, so I can't remember how good or bad it was.
