With 2022's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launch, Activision has opted for a bit of a different release schedule. For the very first time, the company has dropped the upcoming game's campaign early, as a digital pre-order exclusive.
This has allowed us, and likely much of the Call of Duty fanbase, to focus more on the game's campaign this year, instead of jumping right into all of the online modes. And that's got us thinking about some of our very favourite Call of Duty campaigns on Xbox over the years.
Most of them are pretty great high-octane shooters, especially when you just want something to turn your brain off to. We all need those kinds of games every now and then!
We have fond memories of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare campaign; it featured some truly iconic moments that helped propel the series to stardom! We're also partial to the original 'Black Ops', where developer Treyarch really did come into its own.
In terms of the Xbox One era and beyond, we quite liked 2014's Advanced Warfare, along with the two new Modern Warfare reboots. Some of the others in recent years have dipped in quality a bit, but overall, CoD usually manages to serve up a decent campaign!

Think for me it has to be in the following order:
1. COD 4: Modern Warfare (2007)
2. Black Ops 1
3. OG COD (2003)
The one with the sniper mission...
I always loved the first cod the most. I didn't like the move away from health packs.
Black Ops 1, World at War, lastly WW2.
It may not have the awe factor of newer campaigns. But I’ll always have the fondest memories of CoD2. It was my first COD and I was amazed at the graphics at the time and how it sucked me in. Loved that game.
I fell off the Wagon with Call of Duty games, until I recently played the 2019 Modern Warfare campaign .
I found it to be a delight, still resonates with me. Such a great campaign so I will have to go with that one cause honestly i dont remember the rest.
Hopefully they keep coming up with single player campaigns like these. I have zero interest in multiplier.
Ill wait for a bit of a price drop before purchasing the new COD.
Black Ops Cold War campaign was a lot of fun
COD4 all the way. It is, quite possibly, the greatest FPS campaign ever made. Thrilling set-pieces, nigh on perfect pacing, and truly cinematic production values. It was a genuine gamechanger back in 2007, with moments you wouldn't expect a game of this ilk to pull-off.
In fact, all four games developed by Infinity Ward prior to the 2010 mass departures are excellent, and, for my money, are leagues above the rest of the pack.
I highly recommend to anyone yet to play MW (2007) or MW2 (2009) to check out the superb remasters of both games. And to those who did play them back in the day but not the remasters, it's well worth the trip down memory lane.
Black Ops 1 because the protagonist name has my name! 100% immersion.
Chernobyl in cod 4 will be allways the best moment in the whole series and the overall campaign is awesome
Never played a CoD game. But I'm curious to see the results.
Ghosts because of the dog feature.
I’ll have to go with: black ops 1, modern warfare 2019 tied with bo cold war and then infinite warfare. I hated the story aspect of the latter, the villain and premisse were garbage, but being the space nerd i am, fighting on those moons really did it for me!
I haven’t played since Ghost. Advanced Warfare looked so bad I couldn’t touch it, and honestly haven’t missed them.
I've never played a Call of Duty game, but I might give one a go whenever they hit Game Pass.

I voted MW2 but it's very close between that and WaW. Really enjoyed the two MW reboots as well.
Voted for CoD4. Call of Duty (classic) was really good and unique taking in three different perspectives of allied soldiers in WW2. Modern Warfare 2 (2009) was good as well even with the controversial airport part.

COD 2 is still the best IMO.
Warfare has the best campaign hands down. Playing as a special forces soldier is a really compelling idea, and the villain is so evil. Also the stealth section is really tense.
