October was a pretty big month for Xbox Game Pass, featuring the arrivals of both A Plague Tale: Requiem and Persona 5 Royal amongst many others! Today, we want to focus specifically on A Plague Tale: Requiem and find out how you've been getting on with the game so far. What score would you give it in a review?
Here at Pure Xbox, we gave A Plague Tale: Requiem an "Excellent" 9/10 score, praising it as an "incredible AAA adventure on Xbox Game Pass" and stating that it "successfully builds on the team's debut effort".
In case you missed it, we recently held our monthly 'Pick One' poll to find out your favourite Xbox Game Pass addition of last month, and A Plague Tale: Requiem won it by a mile, taking a massive 54% of the vote!
It sounds like we're going to get a lot of 8s, 9s and 10s here, then, and we're also curious to hear your thoughts on why the game is so good, and whether you think it's better than the original. But remember, no spoilers please!
What score you would give A Plague Tale: Requiem on Xbox Game Pass? Tell us down below.

I'll write a mini review when I complete it.
An easy 8 for sure, but I’d consider it more of a 9. The game is excellent from start to finish. As of right now, it’s my GOTY. Sorry, Elden Ring.
Im only chapter 5, but its looking like a strong 8.
@Dr_Luigi @Kaloudz In addition, the game doesn't explain that you have to target the light source you left behind and press Y again to let Sophia put her crystal off. Voices, tutorials and text overlap too often. There is some roughness in controls and characters and it's a pity because the production values are incredibly high and the game is better than the first one, except for Amicia that is more annoying, if that's even possible. Graphics and story are easily 10/10, the game itself is 8/10 overall this far (chapter X).
I recommend turning motion blur off and enabling 120Hz in the Xbox menu if your TV supports it. The difference I notice is enormous.
I'd give it a very high 9. It's a fantastic game, one that deserves to be nominated for Game of the Year awards. My only issue with it is that the combat gameplay is not very good and yet the game forces you to engage in some mandatory combat set pieces.
8/10 for me so far, 8.5/10 if I could give half stars. It’s a better game than Innocence, but it’s got the same gameplay issues where it just feels like the level design isn’t up to the ambition of the rest of the game. You’re just too boxed in. The visuals, audio, story, everything else is exceptional though. It’s truly a special game, even with its flaws. I’m glad games like this exist. To date, it’s second only to Immortality for Gamepass games in 2022, as well.
Definitely a 9,5 for me. Although the performance on Series X on 40Hz was pretty stable. It wasn't perfect and that's where it gets a minus score for me. Then everything else was, if I may say it, Naughty Dog level. Just quality.
I'd give it a 7. During APT Innocence it took me ages to warm to Amicia & Hugo and it was the same again not so much Hugo but I found Amicia really unlikeable for much of this. The combat was better than the first game, the general movement of Amicia felt better than APT:I, never had an issue with the games performance on Series S, the VO, performance & visuals are all amazing but the story wasnt really hitting for me at all until the last couple of chapters and felt it was a little to long for me personally. A fine sequel.
7/10 for me, playing on XSS. It somehow feels laggy, and it's rough around the edges (small stuff, like having to position yourself perfectly to see the action button to open door, and such). I played it 40Hz and it felt like 25.. but it seems to just be me, it might be better on "big" consoles.
It's an incredible game, better than the first one in every category, easy Game of the Year for me, what a masterpiece
I am at the minority here. A 6/10 for me. The visual novel part was not interesting for me. The gameplay is frustrating since they offer you problems, but punish you for being creative, or trying to learn by trial and error.
It’s boring and frustrating when you don’t guess the devs solutions and have to repeat the same parts.
Graphics and music are nice.
@Kaloudz Yes, try the game with motion blur off 😉.
@Decoy_Snake I agree about Amicia, she's the most annoying video game character that I can think of. I can't remember any reactions and dialogue more irritating than hers. Poor Lucas.
I was hit with a game breaking bug in the early part of the game. I also thought it ran on for a little too long. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. 8/10
Loved the first one…wasn’t perfect, but thought what they had a achieved was remarkable, and solid grounds for a sequel.
I’m only a few hours in on this new one…and so far I’m a little disappointed. It looks great, a step up from the series/ps5 version of the last game. More open levels. But with that there’s been a bit more frustration as often it’s not been clear on where to go. I’ll be stealthily moving through a level to the point of tedium looking for where I need to go next. Eventually I give up and run around, being chased like some sort of benny hill sketch, till I find that one out of the way door I was supposed to go through. Naturally this will often lead to death before I make it through said door…then I find I’m at the mercy of the auto saves that have loaded me back to where i was mid chase a few times…so I’m instantly spotted again.
I’ll stick with it as I’m still early on in the game. But it’s just not grabbing me in the way I thought it would…yet.
I'm about two thirds of the way through thus far, and have given it a 9. I'm hearing good things about the ending (whilst trying to avoid spoilers!).
Ask again in another week, @FraserG, and you may receive slightly differing results as more people will have actually finished it...
I'd argue that anyone voting Abysmal has likely either not played it, or has had a game breaking bug exceptionally early on. Much the same for any votes below Not bad really. That's not to say the game is perfect, but if you are going to cast a vote in this type of poll, you have to take the game in the round, comparing it to everything out there, good to bad; where does the game sit in general...
