Of all the Xbox Game Pass games left to release in 2022, High on Life is definitely the most highly anticipated for us here at Pure Xbox. The game generated massive hype over the summer, and it looks a total blast to play.
In our exclusive interview with Mike Fridley (Studio Director, Squanch Games), we asked him a bunch of questions such as what it's been like partnering with Xbox, as well as how long High on Life will take to beat!
High On Life: How Long To Beat?
In our exclusive chat, the developer told us that High on Life will take around 10-12 hours to beat the main story. However, if you want to see everything the game has to offer, you're looking at more like 20-25 hours.
"Obviously, it depends on how much of a completionist you are as a player, but our average for just the 'main story' of the game is between 10-12 hours of gameplay. But with all the collectibles and side content you can easily spend between 20-25 hours playing."
So, there you go! It sounds like High on Life's campaign is a good length, and we'll definitely be digging into all of those collectibles and side content — hopefully we'll be able to bring you a full walkthrough guide to help with those, too.
As we mentioned before, this quote is taken from a larger interview that we recently conducted with Squanch Games' Mike Fridley, and you'll be able to check out the full discussion here at Pure Xbox later this week.

Oh nice! A game short enough I have time to beat before the year is over.
"10-15 hours" = about two months.
For me.
A game determines how long it takes for me to be 'finished' with it. It could be 10hrs, 100hrs or provide 1000's of hours worth, but if it doesn't grab my attention or puts me off in anyway, it could be finished with in an hour as far as I am concerned.
The only time I consider its potential length is when I am deciding whether to buy or not. If I can only justify one AAA game a month, I am not spending that money on something that at most could last me a weekend compared to a game that I could play all month until I can buy a new game again. As good as a Story or the game-play maybe, once its finished, I have no desire to immediately replay it again (and again).
As its on Game Pass, knowing its length doesn't impact me at all. It could if/when I know how much 'free' time I have. If I only have 30-60mins, I'm not going to jump into a massive open world 500hr+ game when you can barely achieve anything in 30mins or so but could complete a couple of chapters or so and make a lot of story progress. That's where it helps me
But in general, Game length doesn't really matter too much outside of a certain selected situations that are rare and/or even then not necessarily important. The actual time I end up spending in them rarely ends up being close to the figures quoted as some I enjoy more and end up taking my time in to do everything, see everything etc, and others that don't keep my attention so I have 'finished' with them with NO desire to return.
is this game getting a physical release?
this and grounded are two xbox exclusives i would like but look to only be releasing on gamepass.
in fact i can't find any evidence of any xbox exclusive games with physical releases.
only 3rd party games have pre orders for discs.
I'm fine with Shorter Games... We need more of that these days honestly 🤔
@MrList basically EVERY game on Xbox Series X is "Digital Only" (thanks "Smart Delivery" 😒) I'm just glad I'm a PlayStation guy first and foremost and that Sony releases those games on/in a dedicated PS5 Disc/Case (100GB Ultra HD Blu-Rays at that)
Edit: Just to clarify, the Xbox games ship on standard 50GB Blu-Rays and usually only contains the Xbone Version of said game (when talking about those "Cross-Gen" games, even with XsX ONLY ones if it's over 50GB it won't all be there, unlike PS5 with those larger Discs) only exception I've found so far is Soul Hackers 2 and that's probably cause the game is only about 20GB on each Platform (PS4/PS5 and Xbone/Xs, so they could obviously fit both on the one 50GB Blu-Ray for the Xbox Release)
Wouldn't be able to take 10 - 12 minutes of that annoying 'humour' let alone hours lol
Perfect length, 100 hours games tend to exhaust me. I love Persona 5 royal and Xenoblade chronicles, but by the 110 hours mark I just wanted them to stop.
