WWE 2K22 was announced as heading to Xbox One, Series X and Series S on March 11th last month, and now following a series of carefully crafted trailers, we've been treated to some raw gameplay footage for the first time.
As you can see from the video above, the footage shows a 1v1 match between Rey Mysterio and Damien Priest, and the first thing you instantly notice is that the camera is different for 2K22, being zoomed in and placed lower down.
Additionally, the gameplay definitely looks like it has a different feel to it. Although many of the same animations appear to have been carried over from previous years, the "completely new animation system" means that the look and feel of characters - from traversal to how they interact during combat — is "greatly improved".
There's lots more footage to come from WWE 2K22 over the next few weeks prior to launch, and the game is also now available to pre-order over at the Microsoft Store — you'll find all the links (and an extra trailer) below:
- WWE 2K22 Standard Pre-Order (Xbox One) - £59.99 / $59.99
- WWE 2K22 Standard Pre-Order (Xbox Series X|S) - £64.99 / $69.99
- WWE 2K22 Cross-Gen Pre-Order - £69.99 / $79.99

certainly looks better and gameplay shake ups are certainly interesting.
However CAW is a huge part of the game, so I need to know more.
All I want to know are the pinning and submission mechanics and controls different? For years they've been straight jank garbage. Difficult to do, not intuitive at all. Pure garbage. That alone runied the game for me every year.
Anyone heard or saw different? Really curious.
@GuyinPA75 in the video there are several pin attempts, looks like it's tap to fill a meter, the less damage you have the more the meter is filled at the start of the count.
@abe_hikura Thank you. All the videos I've seen so far showed nothing. So didn't bother watching this on. Glad you said about the pins. Went in and watched. Changed my expectations little bit. Cautiously optimistic now.
@abe_hikura im sorry what is caw I cant think what that means.
this gameplay looked like it was against someone not playing but every once in awhile. Are there any modes listed somewhere will there be a lot of different match types?
@VisitingComet1 CAW means Create A Wrestler, for me part of the fun these games is making characters and seeing them interact, well suplex the hell out of each other.
ok CAW is huge for me too I love making new guys. I hope there is a better create player mode the last one was terrible I hope that this one is better. I also hope they have some NWO music that you can use for created guys.
I hope they have a good stable manager too.
@VisitingComet1 I suspect there wont be any NWO stuff on the "basic game" there is a NWO edition that comes with the related skins, enterences and co (on top of the Seasons pass and deluxe content), but its stupid expensive.
I did read elsewhere that some of the creation options have been "limited" and some "expanded" in the hopes to make custom characters look as "good" as the real wrestlers, which is both concerning and encouraging, one of the previous videos suggested "classes" are a thing for all custom characters, but it's entirely possible that's limited to career again.
@abe_hikura ya if i get it im buying the nwo one for sure I have not actually watched wrestling since1999 -2000. I was a teenager back then and loved the nWo. I am not buying anything until i see some more though.
@VisitingComet1 Same boat here, stopped watching it long ago. If I get this I will want the NWO content but I can't justify spending over £100 on it. Maybe I'll wait for a sale.
