Saying that Battlefield 2042 has had a rocky launch would be an understatement to say the least. Fans aren't happy with the state of the game, and updates aren't coming quick enough to change that. The most vocal fans have started to take matters into their own hands.
A Change.org petition has been created, as fans look for full refunds from publisher EA. The petition cites "false advertising" as the core reason for requesting refunds, and signatures have now passed 55,000.
It appears that PC players who purchased Battlefield 2042 via Steam can indeed claim refunds through the platform. However, players on console and other PC storefronts don't have the same option.
The signature ticker is constantly climbing at the time of writing, and this one is indeed gathering pace, fast. Whether it garners enough attention for EA to care remains to be seen.
In other news, season one for Battlefield 2042 was recently delayed to early summer, so that developer DICE can work on fixing the core game before adding new content. Even so, updates and fixes just aren't coming quick enough for some players.
Did you purchase Battlefield 2042? Would you take a refund at this point? Let us know your thoughts below.

Change dot org is useless. Money talks. You're better off making a Go Fund Me (granted the company doesn't steal the money) and using the money to refund people who have receipts.
That's fast, thought I saw it reach 25k just yesterday. I totally get why people want a refund as it's quite blatantly misadvertisement but I reckon EA won't budge which is a good thing because how else will gamers learn when not to spend money.
I signed it. Why not? If it does something and I can get my $70 back, I’m cool with that. If it doesn’t , we’ll it doesn’t.
Give it 5 years and we will have the ‘bring back battlefield petition’ after EA decide it’s not worth the hassle anymore. Honestly I hate that games don’t come out fully ready and without bugs/complete modes but what I hate even more is this culture that if the game isn’t perfect then there’s a massive storm on Reddit, gaming sites, YouTube, twitch and then a petition asking for refunds. If it continues developers will just stop making games, companies like EA can just wipe off the debt created if they had to refund, but other studious would potentially collapse. There has to be an acceptance that with the option to update games post launch there’s always going to be something that needs fixing, this point is magnified massively with the pandemic and developers trying to work remotely.
I’m 100% on board that developers need to do better and only release games when they’re ready, but honestly this is a dangerous road to go down and ultimately gamers will suffer when studios just don’t bother making games anymore. My advice as always is to hold off pre ordering, in the digital age there’s really no need.
I expect some backlash from this, I’m more than happy to accept other people feel differently, this is just my take on it.
Hope it gets fixed long term as there’s a lot of potential here.
I bought 2042. It was definitely disappointed with this entry. It does have se crazy battlefield moments that I do enjoy. I also have to say that the vehicle combat is fantastic as well as Portal. But with 7 "core" maps, lack of weapons, and the whole "hero" shooter is a big let down including the lack of full scale destruction.
I won't be demanding a refund because in the past DICE always improved the game overtime. But if the next battlefield isn't Bad Company 3. I will skip all together.
I didn't buy the game. Should I sign the petition? /s
Got my money back already, but then I bought it on the Xbox store and not from EA directly.
You'd think people would learn by now... 🤷♂️🤦♂️
I think a class action lawsuit would be better, than a change dot org petition. One of these disgruntled gamers must be a lawyer or have some degree of law.
