You can now begin downloading the second batch of January 2022's Xbox Live Games With Gold titles (one day early!), which are the Xbox One game Aground and Xbox 360 game Space Invaders Infinity Gene. Both titles are available right now from the Microsoft Store and Xbox 360 Marketplace (links at the bottom of the page).
Here's what you can look forward to:
Aground (January 16 - February 15):
Aground is a Mining/Crafting RPG, where there is an overarching goal, story and reason to craft and build. As you progress, you will meet new NPCs, unlock new technology, and maybe magic too. Will you be able to raise dragons? Launch into space? The sky is literally not the limit. Beneath its simple exterior, Aground hides a lot of depth and surprises that will keep you wondering “what’s next?”
Space Invaders Infinity Gene (January 16 - 31):
Space Invaders, the game that defined video games for generations, is back with a new twist! The game starts off looking like the classic Space Invaders, but as you play through the game, it evolves. Unlock new stages, new power ups, and new features. The full game features a total of 143 stages from both Normal Mode and the breathtaking Challenge Mode where stages change with each playthrough.
You can download both games from the following links over at the Microsoft Store:
- Aground (January 16 - February 15)
- Space Invaders Infinity Gene (January 16 - 31)
PS: If Space Invaders: IG isn't showing as "FREE" yet, you can also get it on the Xbox 360 Marketplace:
- Space Invaders Infinity Gene (Xbox 360 Marketplace Link)

Does anybody ever play through these 120+ stage games? I'm more of a fan of maybe 10-20 solid stages in games like this where I can focus more on the experience & pick up and play (SEGA Ages has excellent shmups with just 4-6 core levels). Not sure if Space Invaders Infinity like Galaga where you have to beat every stage in a row or you can take it up at say level 60 & keep going. Will give it a go & see how it is I guess!
So. I'm not normally into these types of games, by Aground seems to be calling my name.
Aground reminds me a great little game : It Lurks Below.
