Aerial Knights is a good one
Broken Sword, nice!
For those that are curious, Hydrophobia is a pretty cool game but it's basically a tech demo. The story feels incomplete, like someone cut out the beginning and ending of it. The combat is decent, but what makes this game cool is the water. You're stuck on a ship and it's constantly flooding with water, so sometimes you have to run away before the place floods or you have to swim long distances before you reach the other side. Sadly, one of the coolest mechanics of the game is introduced way too late. But if you're willing to check out a 3 hour fairly mediocre game with cool water physics and set-pieces, then I'd say give it a go.
Another bad month for Gold, it would be much better if Microsoft just made online free and made Games With Gold a GPU perk.
@LtSarge I may not remember correctly since it has been a while. But I was on the understanding that the game was expected to be episodic, that's why the story felt incomplete, but they never made the follow ups.
@LtSarge I remember Hydrophobia being a huge deal back in the day, one of the most talked about Xbox Live Arcade titles.
@OskarRex Ah, well that would explain a lot then. It's too bad that they didn't make another one. Would've liked to see them expand upon the ideas of the first game as there were a lot of great ones.
@FraserG That wouldn't surprise me considering I actually bought the game on PS3 back in the day but only recently played it. I never would've bought it today in all honesty, lol.
However, I definitely would give it a try now that it's free with GwG.
@FraserG Yeah, Hydrophobia was part of the XBLA Game Feast promotion back in the day, along with Comic Jumper, Pinball FX2 and Super Meat Boy.
@LtSarge Yeah, I waited literal years for the next episodes. The game was rough but interesting. I totally forgot about it after some time, and got sad about it not being finished when I saw it being added to backwards compatibility.
Metacritic Scores
I might actual give them all a blast this month.
Already have Hydrophobia. As you say there was alot of hype at the time of release. I was quite underwhelmed really... It was only average at best then, let alone 10+ years later.
I don’t get it.
UK.
GOLD LIVE £6.99 per month
GPU £10.99 per month.
Why don’t the Gold members just go to GPU
Abolish GOLD and just have GPU.
I will play broken sword. It is actually the only one in the series I missed
@Dezzy70
Gold is £6.99 a month?! It’s only £38 a year on Cdkeys. This is how these subscription services make their money I suppose, people tick Auto Renew and then forget.
Broken Sword definitely looks worth a try, not sure about the rest
@KingDazzar there was a month like 8 years ago when they gave Dark Souls for Xbox 360.
That was the peak.
In my opinion anyway
Never Yield is apparently getting a big update soon, so I'll take it.
Oof! I thought this months playstation plus was bad
Thank you, GwG for making PS+ look worthwhile this month......
Can't we just merge GwG and PS+ and come up with "Console All Access" or something. Jim, Phil, kiss and make up.
A 10 year old short DLC for a game that was already included a different month in a total bundle of the game + DLC seemed bad, until the alternative was games that nobody cared about at all
Broken Sword is awesome. This will be the third time owning it. Kickstarter on PC, Switch now Xbox.
I never heard of a single game on this list..
I've always wanted play hydrophopia
I’m happy for all four games. Games I don’t have and have never played. Maybe a demo for hydrophobia. Thanks Xbox.
No Capcom titles...
What a bunch of crap.
@electrolite77
I was just going by standard Xbox store prices to make the comparison fair.
As you can get GPU cheaper as well on some websites.
You have to compare like for like without special deals else it gets confusing.
Huh it's better than PS+ ngl.
Beats an EA Sports game and DLC double-dipped on PS+.
Love the Broken Sword series, awesome
HYDROPHOBIA! I bought this game on PS3 back in the day...it's crap but I had some good moments with it! Surely a nostalgia trip seeing it again
Its free games i dnt have and never played and earnt GS from.
Wow! A very very rare thing, a month where I don't own any of the games!
For that reason I'm happy with the titles on offer. I'll try at least two of them, and as always I will grab them all.
I've wanted to play a Broken Sword game so this may be a good chance to get it.
Personally I would prefer to see MS reduce the price of gold by $10-15 per year and scrap the freebie games. GamePass gives me more then enough games.
