It's safe to say the Xbox Activision deal has been a bit of a bombshell. If it goes through, it'll change the industry, so much so that Belgian retailer Cora has supposedly been warning customers over which console to buy.
As spotted by HazzadorGamin on Twitter, an employee sign was placed right in front of the PlayStation section at one of the chain's stores. Translated, it reads "Notice to gamers, Microsoft has bought Activision! Choose your machine carefully".
The store also added a little note about Call of Duty, presumably to let customers know that one of the biggest franchises in gaming might not be on PlayStation in the near future. We know CoD will be on PlayStation for at least a few more years, but beyond that, we'll have to wait and see.
If stores are anything like they are here in the UK, this could be a one-off store notice or a disgruntled employee. Usually, retailers are happy to take your money for either system, if you can actually find any PS5 or Xbox Series X consoles.
Would a deal like this stop you buying the competing console? Let us know in the comments.

No brainer that the average gamer should get xbox
Seems like a fair warning that would probably be useful to the average consumer who isn't really into the gaming scene. Lots of people just want a console as a COD/FIFA machine it seems.
Consider the possibility that maybe the store has been getting a lot of questions about games like Call of Duty being on PlayStation or not in recent weeks and they're just tired of answering those questions so they put up a sign. I mean it could be because of anything really, but I personally don't see this as something that was done with malicious intent.
The writing is on the wall, literally in this case. Still, I have no idea what is going to happen. I've said it before, Microsoft is more unpredictable than Nintendo at this point. They only thing I have to do is wait and see. I feel like I can't accurately predict what games are or aren't going to go to PlayStation.
And now Sony is buying Bungie...
I still think you'll need multiple devices if you want to play the 'best' games every year. Each platform has critically acclaimed studio's that have made critically acclaimed games that have been nominated for, if not won Game of the Year awards.
Not only that, each has its own Unique Selling Points - Nintendo has the Hybrid hand held play anywhere, Sony has Virtual Reality and Xbox has Game Pass which allows for playing on any 'device', not just Xbox hardware.
If you want to be able to play your console anywhere, play Mario, Zelda etc then the only choice is Switch. If you want to experience VR and play Spider-Man, Wolverine, God of War etc, it has to be a Playstation...
@StylesT Depends where all your friends play or if your existing digital library is on another system.
If you don't have any ties then yes I agree Xbox + Game Pass is the obvious choice, but not for everyone.
It might sound like a joke but Call of Duty and FIFA are the biggest thing in Europe so many people buy a console just to play them and are unaware of business decisions. If a customer buys a console to play FIFA, it doesn't matter. If a customer buys a console to play Call of Duty, it matters. Actually, handwritten "Call of Duty" means that "Activision" was not clear enough.
I don’t know how moral/ethical this is concerning gaming…but that’s good advice just for life in general:
“Choose carefully”
@BAMozzy naw. I will just stay on Xbox. You are welcome to buy all three but I am more likely to buy a second Xbox than to buy a ps5
A million bucks says the guy that took the picture made the sign so he could get a few likes and responses.
I have the most fun with Nintendo games. Playstation games are like playing a movie. Xbox gives me a bit of both and a lot of classic games. The choice is a difficult one.
It wouldn't shock me if that was a disgruntled employee, but Idk how the rules work in Europe. In the U.S., I can't imagine the big box stores allowing a clerk to do this.
@Hexamex-Tex Up to you of course - I already have my PS5 which sits alongside my Series X so I can play the majority of the best games that release every year. I'm looking forward to Horizon, God of War, Spider-Man 2, Wolverine and no doubt more over the coming years...
I see no bad intent here. If anything, is it the truth if you're going to play COD games 3 to 4yrs down the line.
@BAMozzy
I am the same.
I have a Series S and a PS5.
And my poor Switch being neglected 😔
@BAMozzy i agree but MS and Sony 1st party games are nothing alike Sony focuses on story and single player experience by and large and MS focuses on online play mostly....also MS is a shooter based system and sony is adventure 3rd person for the most parrt when talking 1st party games...so for me i mostly only play online as i dont have enough time to sit for a 40 hours story.....so ps5 in its current design will never be in my house as i hate the way it looks and im in no rush to play their games...
I get their reasoning for putting the sign up. Not everybody stays on top of gaming news. However, as somebody who’s worked in retail for years, a sign like that really isn’t professional. If a customer asks for your opinion, then we’ve been told to go ahead and give it. But to just put a sign like this out there, it’s not professional. Again, I get it. They are letting everybody know what happened. It just goes against everything I’ve learned working in retail.
