As if Assassin's Creed Valhalla wasn't big enough, there's a new rumour doing the rounds from reliable reporter Tom Henderson that it will be introducing a 'God of War-style' expansion in March 2022, featuring 40 hours of gameplay.
Better yet, we're apparently getting some content even sooner than that too, with smaller DLC set to be released this month. Henderson has speculated this might be announced at The Game Awards later this week:
This is all we know about these plans so far, but assuming they're true, it sounds like Assassin's Creed Valhalla players are in for a treat over the next few months. This game just doesn't want to slow down!
As for what 'God of War-style' means? It's anyone's guess. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

I suppose God-of-War-style means supernatural. Either that or you'll baby-sit a boy throughout the campaign. "Boi!!!"
@Magabro Or maybe it could mean the environments will change as the open world opens up more; like how the water levels went down and expanded certain areas. That would be cool if they did that because I thought it was a brilliant idea on the open world design.
Escorting a 'child' that has annoying dialogue? Take away the bows because the kid has those? Annoying QTE's to combat? more puzzles to solve to progress? Lots of backtracking when you get the right tools? LOL
I haven't bothered with Valhalla since I fully beat the Siege of Paris DLC having already completed the main game, a couple of festivals (not the last one) and Wrath of the Druids.
I really enjoyed the majority of my time in Valhalla and would jump back in if the content appeals. The 'festivals' were somewhat weak but they were 'free' - not worth jumping in for their 'limited' time run for me.
I'll keep my eye on what they do with Valhalla and whether or not it can compete for my gaming time with all the other 'games' I could be playing - I still haven't started FC6 or GotG that I bought on Black Friday yet and with Halo coming tomorrow, FH5 such a big game and all the other games in my backlog as well as 'new' releases coming, I will see if it interests me enough to jump back to Valhalla
@Alduin Glad to hear it! Us Die Hard fans will be welcoming this expansion and every expansion this game and future games have to offer. I for one and extremely happy they are continuing with this as i have completed the base game and all of the DLC up til today and am looking forward to many many more as well as all of the future games Ubisoft makes!!!
sounds like a 40 hr, more focused story, maybe taking place entirely in one area of the world?
Well taking inspiration from probably the best game of last gen isn't a bad thing but wow 40 hours? I honestly don't believe this rumour but if true then I expect it to be pretty much priced the same as a full game.
A game that was already widely criticised for being too long and bloated adding a 40hr DLC. Who would have thought it!
@Medic_Alert Legend has it few have
@Medic_Alert Ha! I was right there with you UNTIL Origins. Had bought and played every single one. I enjoyed Origins too. Yet something about it put me off diving back in. It's not really Assassin's Creed anymore. I did purchase AC: Odyssey but in the 3 years since haven't felt like playing it.
Shame on us!
@Nerdfather1 no it means supernatural like the dlcs for odyssey et origins before. There’s been a lot of leaks pointing to it already
Hope the dlc is part of the season pass…
@Alduin Interestingly enough, i have not had any issues with any Ubisoft game yet. AC Valhalla has been flawless for me, Far Cry is flawless, Watch Dogs have all been flawless. I have nothing bad to say about Ubisoft at all.
@Medic_Alert I haven't even started Odyssey. Only just finished Origins so will be a while before I commit myself to another epic. By the time I get to Valhalla it will take me up until retirement to finish.
Just started God of War on PS5. I like to get stoned when I play. Tried taking a hit every time he says "boy" but I just kept waking up on the couch in a daze and progressed very little. Lots of fun though.
@Medic_Alert
Maybe a funny different perspective: Odyssey is the only Assassin's Creed I have finished. 🙂
@Akimi
Hahah and odyssey is the best asassincreed game on my list and i played almost all of them.
Eventho oddysey feels kinda different like a whole new game. I loved every part of it and still do.
I didnt like valhalla much.
@Enigk
Lol yeah same, i started playing odyssey beginning of this year and wow what a great game, i loved it more then valhalla, valhalla was kinda boring imo. But oddysey is really in my top3 best asassin game.
@The-Chosen-one
It was the setting and mythology that drew me in, and when I got there I had a good time. I'd still like to try Valhalla, but I'm not in a hurry. Probably once I can get the super ultimate turbo edition for a song.
I, for one, loved Valhalla. Only played the base game because I tend to dislike most DLC’s in games. Sold my copy already but I can get the gold edition for $40 digitally. Wonder if it’s worth it though.
I played it on PS5 but made sure to save a cloud copy in case I wanted to try it on Series X. Love that feature from Ubi, really.
