We've heard numerous rumours over the past year that CD Projekt might be looking to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to Xbox Game Pass at some point, but the company says it's "way too early" to be considering that.
As highlighted by VGC, CD Projekt mentioned during an investor Q&A earlier today that subscription models such as Game Pass and PlayStation Now are worth utilising "at a certain moment of the lifecycle of the product":
“We always consider any business opportunity, but this kind of subscription model is good at a certain moment of the lifecycle of the product, so not too early."
“Witcher 3 was for some time in a subscription [Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now], but we have to weigh the benefit and cost each time, so we have to compare it to sales, so it’s a decision based on data. It’s way too early for Cyberpunk.”
Earlier this month, Cyberpunk 2077 made a strange appearance in an Xbox Cloud Gaming trailer which prompted CD Projekt to publicly state that "there are no Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077", and there was speculation as far back as July 2020 that the game might eventually be heading to Xbox's subscription service.
It sounds like we could be waiting a good few months, if not an extra year or two before Cyberpunk 2077 finally arrives on Game Pass, then. Fortunately, if you want to pick it up, it's discounted as part of the Xbox Black Friday Sale.

So could it be that its still selling strongly? Or that they anticipate it will after the next gen update? Interesting either way.
Makes sense. They are bound to release the next gen version next year. My bet is they hope more people will enjoy it and more people will buy it once word comes out that the game is actually bug-free.
Personally I played through it once and found it boring. Ill play through again if they do third person and add cutscenes. Maybe then Ill sympathize more with V.
@Chaudy my guess is on the next gen update.
Good. No one wants the Game Pass name sullied with your heap of fiery garbage. Stay true CDPR!
Of course it’s early, the game isn’t even finished yet
They should let this game RIP.
Dust themselves down and start a new AAA project, deliver a top product and regain gamers confidence.
Too early? Lol nobody has been interested in the game pretty much since launch...was a decent enough game on the series X...but nothing special
They can keep it to themselves
And here I was told that every developer loves Game Pass and can't wait for their games to be on it.
Wouldn’t matter if they did. Some games are not worth the bandwidth to download. Even without caps
Just goes to show that gamepass is still not sustainable for the "BIG" third party devs and their big hitters, especially on release.
But, with cyberpunk its probably not true and no one talks about that game, its got bad press, never in the charts and it's cheap in retail (£20 or less already), there's no way they are making enough money for them not to consider gamepass
It was also way too early to release that game to the public when they did, so they shouldn't let that stop them.
Cyberpunk is still a glitchy and buggy mess, even if they wanted it on Game Pass I'd hope Microsoft wouldn't allow it on the service until it meets a high level of quality.
Just like it was, "Way to early for Cyberpunk 2077 to release'
From a business point of view, it would make more sense to release the next-gen version first and capitalize on additional game sales based on the buzz.
Then whenever they start releasing the paid DLC story stuff, add the game into Game Pass to maximise DLC sales.
That would be my play if I was CDPR.
