Along with today's official reveal of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, it's also been confirmed that GTA: San Andreas will be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
You heard it right! If you're looking to dive into the classic game featuring "brilliant new lighting and environmental upgrades, with high-resolution textures, increased draw distance, Grand Theft Auto V-style controls and targeting, and much more", you'll be able to do exactly that when it releases on November 11th.
The game is currently showing on the Microsoft Store as being able to pre-install onto your Xbox One, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S with a file size of 27GB.
Of course, if you want the whole trilogy, it will also be released on November 11 for £54.99 / $59.99. From the initial trailer and screenshots, it seems a lot more than a simple resolution bump and we can't wait to dive back into these classic games.

Oh man! Great news, I wish they'd of done the entire collection though.
OH MY GOD THAT INSANE
This is the new one right? Omg
Will be interesting if it is limited time on GP or stays there like an Xbox studio game.
This is insane, GTA San Andreas and Forza Horizon 5 all in the same month.
@Chaudy In the same WEEK!
@FraserG so amazing! Thanks for sharing the news
Got to admit it bei g on gamepass means I might give this a shot to see if its worth getting the rest
@abe_hikura
That’s the selling point of game pass.
Tempt you into buying the rest.
Which is good as you can try before but.
@Dezzy70 GTA V has been off an on for years I’d expect something similar here.
@Dezzy70 It's Rockstar, so it will likely just be randomly scheduled to disappear after only a handful of months, only to randomly reappear on the service months later like GTAV and RDR2.
Edit: Didn't realize it was only one of the games in the trilogy at the time. I'll likely skip this since I'll likely have to buy the whole trilogy at some point to play the other two anyways.
PSNow gets GTA3, so I'll get to try both. Sadly, Vice City is the one I was just interested in!
Rather have Vice City, my favourite GTA but beggars can’t be choosers, good news.
@PapaGlitch Me too! I think they're well aware of how much Vice City is loved by fans.
Will probably try SA on Game Pass and wait for a sale on the whole package to be honest.
Playstation gets GTA 3 and xbox GTA San Andreas, so who's having the other one
You'd better play it fast as Rockstar games seem to come and go every other month it seems.
@UltimateOtaku91 Nintendo? I'm glad both subscription services are getting to try the game out 😀
San Andreas is the only one I never played.
@FriendlyOctopus hopefully then I get to play all 3 for free (kinda)
Here's hoping the cheats still work with these games as well, arm all pedestrians and pedestrian riot 😂
@UltimateOtaku91 no one. Vice City is the best and they want people to pay money on it (maybe, I LOVE Vice City).
@PapaGlitch Crazy thing for PS gamers is that they get the PS4 version of GTA3. It's not the PS5 version. Xbox is getting the Series X version of San Andreas. PS drew the short stick on that. Should have had Vice City instead of just GTA3. San Andreas is most certainly welcomed.
@UltimateOtaku91 Oh man I hope the cheats work! Haha, if Nintendo get Vice, you're literally winning right there 😀 I'm slightly jealous haha
I can’t bring myself to get excited about any of this at all.
Don’t mean to be super negative, just ready for some new IP from Rockstar.
Edit: I don’t want to undersell the value with this drop though…even though I’m not excited for it I definitely recognize that this is a really big deal.
That's awesome news, Gamepass is just incredible..
@KilloWertz well, seeing how they're gonna release gta III re on psnow and gta sa on gamepass, makes me believe that the trilogy($60) might be available individually. Probably for $25-30 each.
Really great business move, I have to admit.
Putting one game on the gamepass, to let people test it, play it... in order to make us want to buy the whole package.
It's great, really. I'll definitely try it (especially since I never played one of those games).
PS Now is getting the last-gen version. Nintendo Online might get the GBA game in the next Nintendo Online expansion 😂.
And yes, this marketing strategy benefits players and also Rockstar Games. Win-win.
San Andreas is the only one I wanted to play. Happy days!
@Bobobiwan oh you are in for a treat
Vice City is the one I am most looking forward too so I will be buying I think. My favourite one.
Awesome for those who prefer SA though.
So unexpected but very welcome entry to Game Pass. I was playing San Andreas for the very first time on PC last year, but it's the best excuse to not finish the game there and start all over again on Xbox on November 11
Absolute W for Game Pass here.
San Andreas day one, whereas PS Now gets GTA 3 on 7th Dec.
MS must have payed big bucks for this.
I will get the 3 games on PS5 cause Trophies. But this is huge for gamepass! And PSNow gets the, arguably, worst one of the three games too!
My favourite, this is the best news in ages!!!
Pretty cool, let's hope it sticks around for a decent time. I was hoping for Vice City but still good to hear.
@PapaGlitch it's the Playstation 4 version of III not next gen.
@Quaali I didn't say it was??
My PS5 has been very well loved & appreciated. But ever since I got a Series X and Game Pass last month, it is getting 100% of my play time. Glad I got many months of Game Pass, too.
@Deadcow Yeah, rockstar using game pass as nothing but a glorified demo/free play weekend really irritates me.
Don’t forget that the series x version Skyrim also comes out on the 11.11.21
