Does anybody know if a Live Gold subscription is required for trying it?
@KAET You don't need Xbox Live Gold, it's open to all!
@Steel76 Having played a ton of Halo Multiplayer, I couldn’t agree more.
Nothing against multiplayer, it’s just…we are about 2 months away and all we’ve seen is multiplayer.
Something isn’t right. I don’t think it’s that single player will be delayed or will be bad, I just have this feeling there will be something…unpopular with the campaign.
I am only spit-balling here, but I have a feeling that the campaign will be “Cloud-only” on the X1. Microsoft is going to wait until the last possible minute to drop that bomb.
@FraserG Thanks...
I'm definitely gonna give it a try!
@John117 You are 100% right that developers aren't obligated to show footage before launch. But this goes in the face of almost everything we've come to expect from games marketing, especially AAA system sellers.
For many consumers Halo IS the campaign, and we've seen nothing. The onus is on THEM to market it effectively to build sales & engagement. Which they can't do by not showing it.
Personally I think it will be great, or at the very least a step up from Halo 4 and 5's weaker campaigns. But the continued silence, so close to release, is highly disappointing.
@John117 "Either come and enjoy the multiplayer preview or shut up is my opinion."
So, your opinion is that people with whom you disagree are not allowed to voice their opinions?
@John117 I understand that 343 is under no obligation to show us anything. No company is under any obligation to do anything for it's consumers that isn't stated in some kind of EULA.
However, that doesn't exactly instill confidence when we are so close to launch and all we have seen of the campaign is early gameplay footage that went under a lot of scrutiny. A little bit of a "progress report" would be nice given the controversy.
You want to build hype for a game, not concern.
Halo Infinite Multiplayer is going to be free to play. Halo Infinite Campaign is not.
Multiplayer is shaping up quite nicely - I should know, I have been participating in various flights for quite some time now and have seen the builds progress more and more; but multiplayer is only one side of a coin - and it's pretty much an entirely different build of Halo Infinite using the same engine.
At this point, people should treat Halo Infinite and Halo Infinite Multiplayer as two entirely separate games.
Bottom line: Microsoft needs to start building confidence in the product people will buy/subscribe to Game Pass to play.
@GamingFan4Lyf even if there was a preview of the single player, do you believe it would be enough to address your concerns?
The demo would necessarily cover only a small fraction of the campaign, so it would not dissipate the concerns about it being bad.
And the multiplayer preview already lets us have a taste of the core gameplay that we will enjoy in the campaign.
I think what would build confidence in the single player campaign ahead of launch is early reviews with good scores.
@Magabro I am not even talking about a demo here. Screenshots of the latest build? Real screenshots, not just a "here is an empty hallway". Maybe a small gameplay clip using the latest build?
Heck, show the same exact section that was used once already and highlight the updates made to the game since. Anything to show that the Campaign isn't "in trouble".
I have no concerns about the campaign - I get Game Pass for free and will play Halo Infinite for free. So even if does end up sucking, no harm no foul for me.
But I am not the majority of people. And judging by comments I see, there is great concern about the Campaign. Microsoft needs to convince them, not me.
Hot take: in this digital age, all games should have a reasonable trial period so that gamers can see exactly what it is they are buying before putting money down for the product.
It would go a long way to fixing the 'launch now, fix later' attitude of publishers.
@GamingFan4Lyf well, most of the concerns about the campaign were about the graphics. Do you think the campaign will look much different from the multiplayer? Because it looks very good to me, and I'm playing on the Xbox Series S. I wouldn't complain about seeing how Craig looks like today, but I'm not very concerned about the campaign looking bad right now.
