It's been a long time since we last got a Ghostbusters game. It was 2009 when we last received a decent one, which saw the original cast return to reprise their roles. Now, it seems Illfonic, the team behind titles such as Friday the 13th: The Game, is working on a new title in the universe.
It appears the news was accidentally revealed during an interview (thanks ResetEra), as Illfonic studio co-founder Raphael Saadiq mentioned the project in a recent interview on the music podcast Questlove Supreme.
When asked how many games the studio is working on, Saadiq mentioned previous titles such as Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds, before adding that the team is working on Ghostbusters at present.
"Friday the 13th [is] the last one and Predator and we're working on Ghostbusters right now."
With Ghostbusters owned by Sony, we're not entirely sure whether this title would be multiplatform. Predator: Hunting Grounds was a console exclusive on PlayStation, with a PC version also released. At the very least, we should hopefully be seeing the game on PC.
If not, there's always Planet Coaster which has its very own Ghostbusters story-driven content to embark on. Although, we would very much prefer a brand new adventure. Here's hoping!

Be co-op, be co-op, be co-op!
Wow, this was how I found out legendary musician Raphael Saadiq co-founded a video game studio.
As prior post hopes it to be coop I totally agree.
Still VERY UPSET no multiplayer in remastered Ghostbusters.
All i want is Avowed.
Ugh. Terrible news. Friday 13th and Predators were such horrific wastes of brilliant licenses now now we will get a similar low on content multiplayer mess.
Single players of all three would be most welcome.
Wow. Great news. Friday the 13th is such a fun and awesome multiplayer experience despite the lawsuit, the trolls, the bugs, and the lack of dedicated servers.
