The time has come to pre-install Forza Horizon 5 with Xbox Game Pass, but you're going to need a lot of space to fit it on your console or PC, as the game is clocking in at over 100GB across all platforms, including Xbox One.
In fact, Xbox One is actually the largest file size of the four consoles, being a whopping 116GB. The rest of the platforms are slightly lower at 103GB, but nevertheless you might need to clear some storage to fit them on your drive.
- Xbox Series X|S: 103 GB
- Xbox One: 116 GB
- Windows: 103 GB
Those who are planning to pick up Forza Horizon 5 via Steam aren't able to pre-load the game just yet, with the team advising those players to "stay tuned to our social channels for an update on Steam pre-load timing."
Forza Horizon 5 will be available to play with Xbox Game Pass starting November 9th, but those who purchase the Premium version of the game (or the Premium Add-Ons Bundle) will get Early Access from November 5th.
"Earlier this week, we told you that Forza Horizon 5 has gone gold. With the game now being pressed onto retail discs and prepared for digital release, the team has initiated preload on Xbox and Windows. That means starting today, you can download the game in its entirety and ensure you’re fully prepared to experience Mexico from launch day without delay."
Surprised by Forza Horizon 5's large file size? Are you pre-loading it today? Let us know below.

After Flight Simulator & Psychonauts 2 this is going to be the third game in a row from XGS that's going to be amazing.
After seeing this I hit my xbox app and guess what.. still not downloadable. This happens ALL THE TIME! If the News is Region specific PLEASE STATE!! Ahem.. thank you
@rykkchii Unfortunately this is out of our control, the news was publicly announced by the Forza Motorsport team and no regions were mentioned whatsoever.
@FraserG Ok, thanks for the reply.
FH5 and infinite wiil take up 300GB after a few patches won't they? I'll make room for them, FH4 and MCC will be leaving when these bad boys get loaded
4TB hardDrive on the Xbox 1 for the win officially the biggest game on my list
Over 100gb?!?! 😮 oh well, bye bye CoD, hello FH5 😀
Well FH4 is getting replaced so no big deal. Might have a quick blast this weekend before downloading this.
This, Horizon 4 and MFS take up my entire Series S storage.
Guess i gotta find something external lol
I read the install size. Immediately thought of Duce Bigelow,
"That's a huge...."
Seems I need to kill either Horizon 3 or 4 D:
What could be the reason why the last-gen version has a larger file size? Shouldn’t the current-gen version be larger because of higher resolution textures and such?
Also: please release a larger size Storage Expansion Card soon, thanks.
@JoakimZ More duplicate assets, SSD speeds can access them faster so require less assets than mechanical drives.
@uptownsoul Ouch. Glad I went with a Series X.
Is there not a demo this time ?
Big AAA games' size comfortably reaching 100GBs now. Starfield probably will exceed FH5 in terms of size and that's not counting the expansion...
Those expansion cards' prices need to come down asap
Not downloadable for me; I'm in the US ...
EDIT: It is working. Although, it required me to delete my previous pre-loading install of the game (only 300MB or so), and re-download the game at the full 103 gigs...
Oof. With all of these FREE Game Pass apps, I've been having to do alot shuffling games around. Currently Quantum Break (86GB) is the game I have yet to get to that keeps getting the boot lol
@eagletrippin I'm pretty sure the majority of the Quantum Break install is the TV episodes within the game. If you have a half decent internet connection, you can set them to streaming instead of downloading them.
Note to self: Play Avengers soon to free up 125GB
Well including me, we want more immersive games, better textures, AI etc, then as a general rules file sizes will increase and that’s fine with me.
FH5 will probably be my game of 2021.
Well done in advance PG.
@Would_you_kindly No, they said on 1 of the Let's Go streams there's no demo and if you want to try before you buy then get Game Pass.
@SacredPYRO Thanks, good to know👍
@Grumblevolcano then I'd be paying for a demo if I did that
@would_you_kindly Consider it a rental.
