Diablo 2: Resurrected hasn't had the smoothest launch on Xbox. Since its release players have been plagued with login issues, problems with the connection and save data wipes. While a patch was dropped to rectify many of these circumstances, it appears players are still having a tough time logging in, resulting in the community calling for refunds.
As reported by Kotaku, users are losing patience with the game and have started a Twitter hashtag known as #RefundD2R. While the topic seems to be getting some traction, it's something Blizzard says it can't offer.
From personal experience, we've also had issues logging into the game on multiple occasions. It sometimes takes upwards of seven or eight times before we've managed to get into the game itself.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is fast approaching its first month of release. If problems such as these persist, we can't imagine the community will be playing nice for much longer. Hopefully, Blizzard can address these sooner rather than later.
Have you run into any Diablo 2: Resurrected issues? Let us know in the comments below.

I have completed one run, and other than a couple of crashes, I experienced no issues...
Glad i took a hard pass on this game
I have been playing more than I'll admit in writing. Awesome game. The last four or five days they have had server issues for a few hours in the morning. But hopefully that gets resolved.
If anyone wants to play, I play on PC. Let me know!
Do this server issues affect also offline mode?
@Balta666 no.
Edit: Apparently no on PC, yes on Xbox.
This is the 6th consecutive day of server issues. It is absolutely insane.
People are also losing their hardcore characters because of these issues. While server roll acks are also deleting tons of peoples' gear.
I'm currently in Act V and have had my Horadric cube deleted from my inventory 3 times now.
Furthermore, when the servers are down, I cannot even access my offline character because I can't get past the splash screen.
An absolute cluster.
I always said that I would buy a remake if they ever did it. So far I have regretted it.
@Bdbrady @Balta666
Incorrect. I cannot access my offline character when servers go down. As a matter of fact I cannot even get past the splash screen that says "Diablo II".
@Rural-Bandit for one: they want to pad their Battle.net user count. Their numbers have been found down and it’s a metric investors like to see go up.
But I do feel the same way, when they announced D2R and D4 would require online to play single player, I knew I had played my last Diablo game with D3.
Got burnt out quick on D3. Remember hearing everyone's D2 stories in high school. Ebay items, hacks, bots. Getting your account stolen, I got mine stolen in D3. Blizzard really isn't that good at running these massively popular games on battle net.
Blizzard's sexual harassment controversy already killed my interest in this remake, and the pivot to always online further killed my interest in the remake. However, even those 2 bad omens didn't prepare me for a launch this bad. I'm betting there's low morale and lots of turnover. Money saved for me, sad to see Diablo in such a bad state. I hope Blizzard fixes this remake at least but their track record is not great in that regard.
Sad to see what has happen to a once great company.
@InterceptorAlpha Sorry to hear that bud. PC you can play when the servers are down. The fact it's not the same on consoles is bad. Come to PC and we can play!
@Bdbrady LOL no. If this launch hadn't been awful I had the intention on buying 2 Xbox Copies, 2 Switch copies, and 1 PC copy.
Only bought one of the Xbox copies, and at this point they're not seeing another cent from me.
They burned me with Warcraft 3 Reforged, and now Diablo 2 Resurrected. Blizzard might as well not exist to me now.
Man this is just like 2001 all over again on PC…. The servers were so congested (2m+ players) that wait times and lagging out were normal accepted occurrences.
Hopefully they get this rectified on Xbox soon. I got the game on Switch first, and thankfully haven’t had any issues. Only been playing solo online or duoing with a buddy over seas, and we’ve had no issues. If they can get it fixed soon, I plan on double dipping on Xbox.
I will say connecting to their servers just to access offline mode is silly af. The only 2 reasons I can come up with are a form of DRM, and ability to apply hotfixes like Borderlands w/ Shift.
@Dm9982 The difference being, in 2001 I could play an offline character, and take it online to open Bnet when the servers were up.
Not only is a character like this not an option, but I cannot even access my purely offline characters either.
@InterceptorAlpha yeah that’s why I mentioned it at the end. It’s goofy and I don’t quite understand the decision. I mean the online chars are protected from mods/cheating by being stored server side, and since offline chars can’t go online, it makes no sense to lock them behind connecting to bnet.
I mean I fully get why they don’t allow offline chars to go online; just look at Borderlands 1&2 and all the modded weapons/shields etc…. But to lock offline chars behind the online wall is stupid.
@Dm9982 That isn't a valid excuse at all when it takes two seconds to make a game invite only. Never played with randos back then. Not going to be playing with randos today.
This issue has most definitely been with Switch as well as per Blizzard it has been ALL platforms. Sounds like you just aren't playing during the unscheduled, yet always on time, daily down times.
Check their Twitter account. That is the definitely of job security with how many, non stop updates, they've been having to post since launch
@InterceptorAlpha It’s possible. I play between 2pm and 2am CST, and have a a few chars in Nightmare, and 1 almost through nightmare. I’ve gotten disconnected a handful of times, and hit a server maintenance period once, but honestly nothing worse than any other online launch. I’m probably just lucky though.
@Dm9982 I haven't compiled a recent image, but here is the last one.
@Dm9982 more recent example. 7 days in a row now.
@InterceptorAlpha US West / America here so that MAY be why I’ve had less issues. Sadly consoles can’t select servers like the old days. Otherwise that would resolve some issues. I know a few euro players that use to switch to US West / East if the euro servers were being dodgy.
@Dm9982 I'm east coast US. I cannot access online like clockwork when Blizzard posts these.
Here is the US support Twitter:
@InterceptorAlpha Jesus…. None of this surprises me though. Anyone who’s been a blizzard fan since 1999+ knows they’ve NEVER had a smooth launch of online features / games. Most of the time they misjudge just how many players are gonna hammer their servers.
Still; I really wish they’d make Offline
mode truly offline without having to connect to bnet first. This especially makes no sense when you consider Switch is mobile and isn’t online 100% of the time unless you’re always home / hotspot…. It would make MUCH more sense to allow you to play offline saves without connecting to bnet first.
Edit - After a quick test that I hadn’t tried before, if you turn on Airplane mode before booting up D2 (On Switch) then it bypasses connecting to bnet and allows you to access the offline chars. Hmmm, nifty. Wonder if disabling internet on Xbox works the same for the game?
People please, do not buy games at launch.
I have a rule (which I've broken about 3 times in the last 5+ years) to not buy games within the first year. The vast majority of games now are completely broken and unfinished when they release.
And after nearly 10 years of devs launching, what is essentially, paid betas, with a "fix it later" attitude, we are at the point where it's your own fault.
@Richnj see here’s the problem, the game itself works great. Better than it did in the 2001-2005 time frame I played it even. The servers on the other hand, worse than the same time frame, lol.
Offline wise though, game is great. And as I tested above, Airplane mode bypasses the auto connect to bnet and allows you to access offline chars without issue. Just not sure if it’s possible to disable internet on Xbox and still boot D2 like switch….
I played my necromancer for around 10 hours before I decided I’m not built for Diablo 2. S
I think Diablo 3 ruined me for this game
