The Xbox September 2021 update has been unveiled today by Microsoft, and while it's a quiet one this time around (including a few already released features), it's highlighted by the much-anticipated new Microsoft Edge browser.
Here's a brief overview of what's on the way, with more details available at Xbox Wire:
New ways to access console games with the Xbox app
Play Xbox Game Pass games from the cloud. Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is now available through the Xbox app on Windows PCs for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in 22 countries.
Play games directly from your home console on your PC with Xbox remote play: If you own Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, you can access your console gaming experiences on Windows 10 PCs via Xbox remote play with the Xbox app.
Save your Play Later list
With Play Later discovery, you can curate your own list of titles from over 100 high-quality games in the Xbox Game Pass library. See a game that looks interesting? Just save it to your list and play it later.
Updates to Microsoft Edge on your Xbox
Starting today, the latest version of Microsoft Edge will be available on all Xbox consoles. This update will bring you the best of the web, with improved web standards and a fast, secure, and modern browsing experience right from your console.
You’ll also enjoy a more streamlined gaming experience across your signed-in devices. If a game opens a new window on Microsoft Edge for hints or guides, send that tab to another signed-in device so you can continue gaming on your console seamlessly.
This update also comes with mouse and sync support, so you can manage your profile settings easily within Microsoft Edge on your Xbox console.
Which of these new features are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments below.

Edge will be nice to see F1.tv. I will check it tomorrow for the qualifying. Was hoping for the update on the controller light too as it is my biggest peeve with the system
Should add the ability to record longer videos and directly upload to YouTube
Where is the update to the UI in 4K? I would of thought it would be contained in this update as it's been in beta testing for a while now.
New Edge and mouse is the most exciting.
I tried out the new Edge on my XSS this morning, it worked very well, streamed video perfectly. Nice update.
Anyone using cloud gaming yet? Its pretty nifty but I'm finding the frame rate vomit inducing. Does that get better at different times of the day or is it always like that?
Doesn't Xbox Run a custom version of Windows 10 ? With windows 11 releasing soon I'd expect the Xbox to be updated to windows 11
sounds nice!! Though i now use Google Chromecast browser. Windows edge was just chalk a block full of problems after its last update. and i gave up on it just to many issues with Microsoft windows browsers
Would be pretty neat-o if they let me pin my Wish List to the home screen, so that I could see all the games on it displayed with their current/sale price and I didn't have to f*** with the store.
Love the new browser, It's alot faster than the old one and more modern..
@Balta666 is this going to work? If so, I'm super excited because casting to a Chromecast from the F1TV app is pretty temperamental and Airplay is just useless.
@Brobeans it does work yes, although as I have the Xbox with just wireless connection it had quite some hickups. What I generally do is to share the screen from my phone with the TV (that for some reason has no issues with the wireless connection) but that way I cannot be on WhatsApp
