The Sherlock Holmes series has garnered quite a cult following over the years, as developer Frogwares has delivered a selection of games dedicated to the detective. Its next entry, Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, looks to revitalise the series, and the latest gameplay trailer gives us our first taste as to what it’s all about.

In an exclusive trailer for IGN, many new gameplay systems are highlighted - most notably, the use of combat in the game. Sherlock Holmes can be seen wielding a gun, whilst also getting into various fisty-cuffs with numerous goons. It looks like a more modernised gameplay take, but some elements are definitely lacking, such as the facial animations and frame rate. Hopefully these can be buffered up a bit before launch.

“In this story-driven detective thriller, a young Sherlock Holmes struggles to prove himself as he navigates an exotic, dangerous island in the Mediterranean to investigate the mystery of his mother’s death.”

There’s no confirmed launch date outside of 2021 yet, but Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is expected to come to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. As soon as we know more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
