EA has announced that much anticipated Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be launching on May 14th for Xbox One with "targeted enhancements" for Xbox Series X|S.
The collection comes packed with Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and over 40 pieces of post-launch content from the entire trilogy. Each game has been fully remastered and optimized with 4K visuals, and will also include performance mode options. Quality will favour resolution, while framerate will boost the FPS.
Alongside visual improvements, the original Mass Effect has also received a gameplay overhaul to bring it more inline with later entries. Improved aiming, controls, camera and cover shooting is said to have been reworked for the new release. New customisation styles have also been incorporated to the Shepard character, including the female option originally seen in Mass Effect 3 now available in all titles.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is now available to pre-order on the Microsoft Store for £59.99 / $59.99, and all EA Play (and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) members can get a discount of 10% off that price.
"The Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition includes single-player base content and over 40 DLC from the highly acclaimed Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 games, including promo weapons, armors, and packs – remastered and optimized for 4K Ultra HD."

I wish there were a version without promo things
One of th best story experiences in the history of gaming. I’ve played through it multiple times (both good and bad) and will most definitely be picking this up day 1.
Awesome, Can't wait to play Mass Effect for the first time..
Mass effect 2 is one of the great games ever made. I’m not going to be getting this as I don’t want to dedicate the hours to it again but for anyone who’s never played Mass Effect you’re in for a treat.
I'm mostly interested in checking out Mass Effect 1 and all the changes they've made to it. Really cool to see that you can play as Femshep for all three titles, which I might do since I've already played as male Shep. Not to mention that I'll most likely play on Renegade since I've only played through the games on Paragon. Anyway, lots to look forward to with these games! Hoping each game will have a separate achievement list and that the trilogy runs well on base Xbox One just so I can get it there.
On a side note, the trailer pointed out at the end that only single-player content will be included in this collection. So the multiplayer from ME3 will not be present, which is totally fine by me but I thought it's worth pointing out for those who are wondering.
@LtSarge
I've also played it multiple times and I always intend for the next playthrough to be as a Renegade only to end up playing Paragon again 😁 Superhyped for this, day one!
I just started Andromeda. I never played the original trilogy, but if it has the same/better mechanics, I am all for trying it.
I'll give it a go, it's been a minute since I've played the original trilogy.
"including the female option originally seen in Mass Effect 3"
Anyone want to explain what this means? You've been able to play as FemShep since Mass Effect 1.
@InterceptorAlpha Here's the official line:
"With improved hair, makeup, eye color and skin tones you can create your Shepard in a unified character creator with all options available across the full trilogy, or choose to play as the iconic Femshep from Mass Effect 3 now available in all titles."
Glad to hear they've brought ME1 in-line with the rest of the trilogy. I can't imagine the original holds up very well today, and to be honest the combat felt a little ropey back in 2007, especially coming a year after Gears Of War.
I'm in two minds about playing this, though. On the one hand, ME is unquestionably one of my favourite sagas in gaming. On the other, how can replaying it a decade later (4K or not) ever recapture anything close to the same experience as playing it for the first time? Some of my most cherished gaming memories are from playing ME, and part of me reckons they're better off staying as they are. Plus, I'm not sure I can spare 100+ hours to replay it all these days.
To anyone who'll be playing the ME Trilogy for the first time, I am immensely jealous of you.
Aaaand I've just found out Microsoft's policy regarding payment for pre-orders is rubbish. I pre-ordered ME:LE only to find out that my payment will be processed up to 10 days before the launch. Why pre-order then? Makes no sense.
Edit: Pre-order cancelled.
Day ONE!! God I hope its getting pyhiscal
If only Nintendo had done this with Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
@InterceptorAlpha
It's a specific character. You can either use the character creator where you can completely customize their appearance, or you can use the default character, which is based on a real life actor and looks a bit better graphically than the customized versions.
Originally they only had a male version of that "default character", but they added a female version in Mass Effect 3. So they've basically gone back and added her into ME1 and ME2 as well.
