The first reviews for tomorrow's release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time have gone live, and it looks like a great outing for the Bandicoot! Let's see what some reviewers are saying about the game so far...
Keep a look out for our review of Crash 4 here at Pure Xbox in the very near future!
GamesRadar (4.5/5)
"This is exactly the sequel I could imagine Naughty Dog wishing it had made 20 years ago, and one that can stand proudly alongside the best of the Bandicoot's back catalogue."
Game Informer (8.5/10)
"At its core, Crash 4 remains rooted to the old way of doing things, but that’s not a bad thing. The visuals are cleaner now and Crash has a few new gimmicks, but if you squint, Crash 4 looks like the same old platformer you’ve always loved."
IGN (8/10)
"Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is both respectful of the series that came before it while also giving it the modern update it needed with new gameplay, depth of character, and a beautiful look. Toys for Bob just gets Crash."
VG247 (3/5)
"It’s a shame, then, that some of the level design choices don’t really pair up with the engine Toys for Bob has built this love-letter to 90s platforming games in. Loose and floaty physics, an abundance of different mechanics that often feel part-baked, and some design choices that feel sadistic – rather than simply difficult – leave this approach to Crash Bandicoot feeling less like a true sequel, and more like a licensed spin-off."
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time currently has a Metacritic rating of 86 based based on 20 reviews for PS4 (the Xbox One version doesn't have a rating yet). You'll be able to get hands-on with it yourself tomorrow, October 2nd.

I always found the Crash series to be highly overrated. Of course, that opinion is based off of the early games on the OG PlayStation.
I can’t speak for the newer titles, so maybe those are better?
I am really looking forward to playing this one, though I still need yo play Crash 3 from my trilogy collection on Nintendo Switch!
I want to know how PureXbox feels, tbh.
@KelticDevil The best games are definitely the original trilogy. If you don't like them, then I think the series is not for you. Take my advice: don't even bother to play other games in the series. You'll waste your time
Now let's see how this latest one plays
I played The Wrath of Cortex on GameCube, it's average. I played the first game on Xbox One X so I have two more to play. It's a shame that they are 30fps but they look very well. I'm very good at platformers so I was able to get 100% including the extra levels and I think it's fun but yes, it's not a masterpiece. Banjo-Kazooie is! 😁
Is Crash 4 60fps? I want to get it after playing 2 and 3.
By the way, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a very good game, better than Mario Kart 8 (because Mario Kart 8 is not the best Mario Kart).
I just realised that I'm devoted to platformers and racers 😂.
