In the latest development update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries has revealed it will be adding a jetpack skull to the Halo 3 campaign.
The team wanted something more than just an emblem to commemorate the upcoming launch of the third game on PC, so it's decided to add a completely new game modifier. There were some concerns about breaking the game with this new skull, but surprisingly it was "pretty straightforward" to implement. Here's a look:
The same update goes into detail about the history of jetpacks in Halo:
So, it is a bit funny how things have come full circle…in a roundabout way. H:CE prototyped jetpacks, then cut them but apparently kept a cheat in for the functionality. Reach then implemented them as a full-fledged feature. Then MCC fleshed out the Jumper Jumper improvement. Then we retroactively brought jetpacks back to Halo 3 as a passive ability with a specific skull on, and let users control it via the same Jumper Jumper pattern they may already be familiar with.
Will you be taking to the skies in Halo 3 when this new skull becomes available? Tell us down below.

"Finish the flight". Love it!
@Justifier Haha, thanks! Back in 2007 I really thought we were finishing the fight. It's crazy how many Halo games have been released since then.
