The initial release of Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake arrived on the Xbox 360 ten years ago today, launching back on May 14, 2010. The game was well-received from both critics and fans alike, and later received another standalone title in the form of Alan Wake's American Nightmare.
The original game was an Xbox 360 exclusive before transitioning to PC in 2012, and focuses around best-selling writer Alan Wake and his search for his missing wife. Remedy itself describes Alan Wake as "the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller.
Plans for an Alan Wake 2 were put together some years ago before the project was ultimately cancelled (thanks VG247), with Remedy going on to develop Quantum Break and Control in recent years. Fortunately, you can still enjoy the original game with backwards compatibility on Xbox One!

Looking forward to another possible playthrough on the series X again. Although the story was unbelievably hokey, the setting was wonderful!
bought it for $1.50 on steam today, looking forward to playing it since Control introduced me to Remedy
Bring on a sequel! Please!!!
Still love playing this game, it's so unique!
One of my all time fav. I was 13 or so at the time and my brother told me that this happend in real life 40 years ago and they made game about it. I ve never been more scared with a game or a movie haha
Love that game.
A great game from a great developer. Would really love a proper sequel.
Bought it on a whim, probably 2 or so weeks after it launched. One of my favorite games of all-time. Unique from a mechanical perspective, loved the light/dark aspect of the combat and the natural evolution of bullet time. Then there was the story and the way it was told through both Wake's writing and the music. Just great stuff. A shame more people didn't give a chance because if there is one game that still doesn't have a sequel but it deserves it, it's this.
