It's hard to believe it's been almost a decade since Minecraft first debuted on Xbox! The first version of the game was called Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and launched digitally on May 9th, 2012 for 1600 Microsoft Points (remember those?). An updated Xbox One version was released two years later in 2014.
Minecraft itself wasn't even a year old when it came to the Xbox 360 platform, with the PC version having officially released back in November 2011 after a couple of years of public testing. As we all know, the game went on to be massively popular, and eventually received a retail release for the Xbox 360 in 2013.
Developer Mojang is also celebrating something else this month in the form of a brand-new Minecraft title. Minecraft Dungeons is an all-new action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, and is coming to both Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass on May 26th.
Were you playing Minecraft on Xbox 360 back in the day? Let us know in the comments.

Experts say that this is the best-selling video game ever but they are not 100% sure if Tetris including all the editions is ahead. Anyway, a massive success. I thought that it was too late and too expensive when Microsoft bought it for $2.5 billion in 2014 but what do I know.
Not surprised that after eight years, Minecraft's still a thing. In fact, I bet that in ten years time, Fraser will be uploading the, "Minecraft First Released For Xbox Eighteen Years Ago Today" article. I just hope that by then, the Super Duper Graphics Pack has finally been released. 😩
I first played Minecraft on PC, the beta version, before beds were added to the game.
I just cannot play the game single player anymore. But if even one friend wanted to play it with me regularly, I'd be happy to play together again. Even just chatting while we strip mine for diamonds.
