Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has witnessed many of Microsoft's video game releases over the years and was recently asked on the IGN podcast what Xbox IP he'd most like to see revived. While there's plenty to choose from, for Phil it's gotta be MechAssault:
“Mech. That’s easy. Mech, from a rights standpoint, is a little bit messy since there are some other people working on games. But when I think about MechAssault, and the IP that Jordan [Weisman] created with FASA like Crimson [Skies], Shadowrun, Mech, and any more, it just has really deep and really rich stories and characters to go play in. I think it would be really cool, at some point, if we could do something with Mech.”
Keep in mind, this doesn't necessarily mean more Mech games are on the way. Spencer is simply saying it would be "really cool" to do something with the series in the future, if possible.
MechAssault is based on the BattleTech franchise and first launched on the original Xbox hardware in 2002. It was one of the earliest games to support Xbox Live and got a sequel in 2004 titled Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf.

Phil’s interview on the podcast was great & a nice surprise. I’m not big on Mech games, but I’m sure a lot of people would love this series to come back.
In Phil I trust. 👍🏻
I would love to see Mechassault revived. My dad and I still play multiplayer on the original game on the OG Xbox to this day.
I instantly remembered that ginormous controller that you could only use with that specific game...
Yes please!!! First game I played on Xbox Live. Loaded it up at midnight the day the service launched and never looked back. Probably put more hours into that online than any other game I've played in my life with "maybe" the exception of Halo 2.
