Bethesda Game Studios surprised no one in announcing Fallout 4 at this year's E3. However, many gamers were surprised to see the game set to release this year, on November 10th. Xbox One owners were given further cause to celebrate with Microsoft's own backwards compatibility announcement being followed up by Bethesda declaring that they would be exclusively giving out free digital copies of Fallout 3 with each Xbox One copy of the latest iteration.
If you preorder a physical copy you will receive your code to redeem Fallout 3 on launch day. However, Microsoft recently announced that if you preorder via their own digital Xbox Store then you will receive your code with 7-10 days. What is less clear at the time of writing is when the game will be playable via backward compatibility. You'll be able to play it on your Xbox 360 if you have one, of course, but Xbox One's backwards compatibility is currently only available to members of it's preview program with a selection of 21 games to choose from. The service is due for a broader release in Autumn 2015 with over 100 games slated for release. It remains to be seen if Fallout 3 will be added to the preview or will roll out later in the year.
For more Fallout 4 news be sure to come back to Pure Xbox as we slowly wait for November's vault opening to commence.

I sure hope the good games make the compatibility cut, not just CoD/CoD/CoD/GTA
@JaxonH @Utena-mobile yeah unfortunately I think the list will be somewhat limited to shooters and Microsoft Games Studios published titles. They have a voting system going which can help gauge the direction the first batch of games might take; https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/298503-backwards-compatibility
