The Game Awards provides a nice bookend to each year in gaming, and this year's event finally takes place today! You can expect plenty of awards of course, alongside huge new game reveals, live performances and more.
What Can We Expect From The Game Awards 2023?
While the finer details of the show are kept under wraps until it goes live, we do have some hints at what might be there. Xbox is teasing "news you don't want to miss" at the show, while SEGA has also started sending out some fighting-themed invites to fans and influencers ahead of this year's event. Of course, we're also getting that much-anticipated Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox announcement as well!
Host Geoff Keighley said on a recent Q&A that this year's event will contain more new game reveals than last year, so the show sounds packed overall!

The Game Awards 2023 takes place on Thursday, December 7th at 4:30PM PT / 7:30PM ET, and 12:30AM GMT UK time on Friday, December 8th. As part of this, there's a 15-minute pre-show before the main event begins.

It usually runs longer than he says, plus the pre-show. I'm not staying up till the birds were tweeting like last year (no thanks to Chris Judge!) Will get up early and watch it on the Friday.
I doubt I'll bother staying up beyond midnight and I doubt that anything major will surprise drop that I can't wait until morning at least to find out about.
I'd normally watch this, and during Covid when everything was online the USA viewing times were much more palatable for the UK.
Saying that, unlike an Xbox showcase it obviously has significant sections that don't apply to me, so not watching live will save me getting bored or jealous when some exclusive stuff comes on.
Regardless, there is no way I'm staying up till 3AM with work the next day though, so I'll catch up on it on Friday...
I will probably read a recap of the game reveals the next day. Not concerned about the awards and not willing to give up 3 hours (or more) to see the 20 minutes of content i want out of it. The last few shows years weren't worth the view.
Cannot make my mind up whether to stay up and watch this, or get up early and watch it on Friday morning. The start time properly sucks for us in the UK, but I guess we just don't count when it comes to scheduling these events, or am I just being jaded? 😉
I don't care about the awards but I'm looking forward for any Xbox announcement.
I can't wait to be honest I'll be glued to my screen will expectations be met I doubt it I am hoping for baldurs gate on gamepass because of the rumours but I doubt it will happen either way let's see what happens I'm sure it will be good either way.
I'll skim through it on the way to work in the morning no interest in staying up until half 12 to watch it.
Ah crap was hoping to get the news on this today not staying up to watch that should be at an earlier time for us in Europe! Will just get the news on this tomorrow for it I sappose.
Looking forward to some game announcements. Won't be watching live due to work the next morning. Fingers crossed for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree trailer
Looking forward to it games games games 💚
Oh well. I didn't need to sleep tonight anyway 😳
Damn it Geoff why do you disrespect the sleep of Europeans? 😬 I blame Geoff for my inevitable sleep-deprived state tomorrow. I’m still going to try to sleep but I don’t forsee myself having much success.
I need that Elden Ring DLC news, I’m starving for it.
I will be watching live after work as I am in the right time zone… looking forward to all the announcements and surprises (hopefully)
@BacklogBrad
This is exactly how I feel as well!
I hate all awards shows.
I just want to know the games and the dates for them.
But I'm bored with most modern games nowadays anyway, so I really don't play much.
