We're almost ready to go with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Xbox Series X|S and PC! The official release date is December 9th, but the game is getting a weekend of "early access" for anyone who wants to pay a bit extra.
If you're looking for the cheapest route to get Indiana Jones early access from December 6th onwards, it's via the Premium Edition Upgrade. This version doesn't actually include the base game itself — so it's built for players who intend to access it via Game Pass instead — but you do get early access along with various other benefits:
- Up to 3-Day Early Access
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants Story DLC
- Digital Artbook
- Temple of Doom™ Outfit
In terms of the best price, the Xbox Store is asking for £34.99 / $34.99 if you want the Digital Premium Upgrade, but other retailers are pricing it lower. CDKeys, for example, has it for £21.99 in the UK, and ShopTo has it for £23.99.
Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information.
If you're not planning to play on Xbox Game Pass after December 9th, and you still want to have access to Indiana Jones after that date, then you've got three options - wait for the 9th and get the normal version, buy the full Premium version now (but it's pretty expensive) or get the ultra-luxurious Collector's Edition. None of these methods are exactly cheap, but once again, you should find better prices than the Xbox Store is offering if you're willing to shop around.
Another recommendation, if you're happy to wait until next Monday, is to check out the £1 / $1 PC Game Pass trial instead. If you sign up now, you'll get two weeks of PC Game Pass at no extra cost, which includes access to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on December 9th. That's an unbelievable deal if you've got the setup for it!
So, what are your plans for early access? Will you be getting it? Tell us in the poll and comments below.

CDKeys is kind of gray market isn’t it? Just was surprised to see them listed here like it’s any old retailer.
Reviews anyone???
I do hope people buy this game if it reviews well. Yes, having Game Pass and playing it there is great, but speaking with your wallet and supporting the developer (if the game is good, but even sometimes otherwise) is the best way to go. This is one of the main reasons why I think Xbox has had a few poor quality exclusives. I hope this game turns out well because I’m genuinely excited and love MachineGames.
@MeanBeanEgg
Just like theme parks to get to the front of the queue with a priority pass that costs.
Nothing new in the world 🤣
This is such a scummy practice and one that I wish people would avoid like the plague.
@OldGamer999 midnight tonight in the UK I believe.
@Medic_alert
Cheers, I shall wait until tomorrow morning to see them.
We seem to get such weird review dates and times lately with new games.
Or sort of last minute reviews.
I HATE "advanced/early access" will never pay for it no matter how much I want a game. I'd rather pirate the game than support this scummy FOMO-fuelled business model.
I'll wait till Monday, but looking forward to reviews.
If it was just the early access I would wait, but I love Indy and know I’ll be getting the DLC expansion so might as well buy it now and get the EA as a side benefit.
@awp69 I’ve used CDKeys for a number of years. Never had an issue, and saved an absolute fortune.
@OldGamer999 the worry going around the various Internet forums is that Xbox don't have a lot of faith in it hence the last minute embargo.
No idea if that's true or not but it certainly feels like another reason not to buy into this early access gumpf!
@ChopperCampbell me too, I have always found them to be on the level.
I think they had a worse reputation some time back though.
I'll wait a while for the early access people to find all the bugs so it can be patched in time for a better experience a week or two, at least, down the line.
@Medic_alert It’s not really last minute, though. The game doesn’t actually release until the 9th (excluding early access), so I’d say four days prior is a pretty solid window.
Honestly, Microsoft has a really bad track record when it comes to exclusives - Redfail and Starfailed just to name a few. Not totally convinced that Indi is good, not until I start seeing review scores. Until then, could care less about early access.
@Medic_alert
Read some good previews and some not so good previews and the odd harsh one.
So will have to wait and see.
But I definitely can’t see it being what I call a quality AAA critically acclaimed game.
But an above average 80’s maybe type game.
I don’t think Xbox studios are into the Nintendo or Sony 90 plus production of games.
But there is good reason, because Xbox developers have to make for lots of devices and not a single console to focus on like a switch or PS5.
Always said that and apart from FH5 Xbox studios are a Jack of all trades for many devices but absolutely not a master of one.
Haven’t had gamepass active for a couple months. Have a key to use and won’t bother till a few weeks after launch so the usual paid beta tester…I mean, early access player bugs get worked out.
@Medic_alert that’s not an Xbox thing, you will see that with any game that does it.
But the PC specs are very beefy, so where a few days ago I was confident it would be good on series S. now I’m slightly more hesitant.
Still makes no sense that we can’t be told when review embargo are. It’s crazy
Happy and patient enough to wait till Monday.
@FraserG I know in the US Mountain Dew is running a promotion with Xbox and for buying Mountain, Doritios or Rockstar energy drink you get codes for points to use on their website. One of the things you can get with the points is Xbox Game Pass trial but it's for new users only. Still if your someone who drinks Mountain Dew or Rockstar or eats Doritos it might be worth looking into. I was able to get to 1200 points with just six of the 20 ounce bottles.
@Tasuki Nice, thanks for the heads up!
@Kraven the game is out tomorrow. They are holding it back to make more money.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner I didn't say it was an Xbox thing. Just that it was scummy and that applies to whoever does it.
@OldGamer999 I'm a big fan of the PC gamer reviews, they are critical without being too harsh and align with my views pretty closely. They weren't hugely happy with the preview.
It sounds like a solid 7. I hope it proves to be a bit better than that.
@Medic_alert
Yes I read that PC preview, seemed a-bit to the point.
I think overall it needs to be mid 80s to get any decent respect, or it will go down as game pass fodder, but we shall see tomorrow.
Not sure what it is with Xbox studios they don’t seem to be able to hit the nail truly on the head with their games, I think FH5 was 93 meta and did really well, but since not much, especially general public wise.
@Medic_alert
By the way I’m not being mean to Xbox studios or the game.
I will cry with delight if the game got 99 on metacritic, that’s all I want Xbox Studios to get back on song and produce amazing AAA quality games at 90plus on metacritic and critically acclaimed.
Any true gamer would as its best for us the gamers.
@OldGamer999 I think a lot of what we have seen so far has been pretty safe and not really building on their previous work.
Like Starfield had all the Skyrim jank but took a step back in terms of environment and exploration.
Oddly enough though their best work seems to have come with projects that are much more risky and have little to no pedigree - Psychonauts 2, Pentiment and Hi-fi Rush.
All three of which are perfect gamepass games because they would likely have limited sales whatever happens but are also very good.
@OldGamer999 oh absolutely. Nothing would give me more pleasure than Indy being a 97 on metacritic and a game of the generation.
I have just lost all faith that Xbox can produce that.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for Doom and Fable!
@Medic_alert
Even from the small DOOM clip we got you can tell DOOM will hit about 90 and be a great AAA, they have the history, like Playground Games making Forza Horizon 5 and probably FH6 at some point.
Now being an Xbox studio, even Xbox studios can’t mess Id with DOOM up 🤣
@Medic_alert
I see a review went up and then got removed for INDY, not a well known site. Also the web archive has gone know but I got to read it.
Basically a positive review was a PC review.
Reviewer liked most things, said there was 3 open like areas to explore linked with the more linear levels In between, Said combat was good, even if a little repetitive. Great environments and captured the Indy vibe.
They gave no score, but if I had to guess by the reviewers comments about a solid 8 maybe just above 8. Did not seem to any really bad negatives or bug comments, said his PC spec which I forgot but was running well.
I've recently upgraded to series x from series s.
What are the best sites to buy new physical xbox games from?
Very tempted to pick up indy....
@Kraven support devs…well devs are on MS salary. Its MS studio and not some indy dev who put heart and soul and his life depends on well his game is received.
Also regardless of the result they can close any studio like tango which produced high score game.
About the GP argument for quality - well poor quality do not push subs either. Remember the redfall. So no one wants poor quality anyways.
I dont think its that “they are nor trying”, its more like MS mess and mismanagement with studious is the problem. They have too many things going on so they cant manage properly.
MS decided to put their games on GP day 1, its their choice to cannibalize the sales. I personally almost never buy MS games as I am paying for GP sub indefinitely. Thats my support - stable income from me to the company as well as they include me in all the “X players played the game” stats. Thats the metric now and not sales. I might buy deluxe update or smth if i really like the game, but the basic version thats already on sub - no
@Millionski I agree that MachineGames and other studios on Microsoft’s are on their salary and get paid to make their games. That is a given. With that said, it’s on the consumer to play the game(s) these developers make.
I think there is a management issue at Microsoft and their studios, thus creating good, sometimes great, but sometimes bad games. Redfall is a prime example, as you mentioned. To me, however, I believe the metric still revolves around sales — a studio has to recoup the money they spent developing a game. And we don’t know how much Microsoft is paying the developers to have their game on Game Pass day one; those numbers are hardly shared with the public. I do agree that you are supporting them (and I am too) by subscribing to Game Pass and paying x-amount of dollars a month, but I also think paying $20.00 a month rather than purchasing a game outright (and still subscribing to GP) is hurting game development.
Is this Microsoft’s fault? Yes, to an extent, since they are pushing for Game Pass subscribers, which I think of you look at how it is doing it’s not sustainable, which is why they want GP everywhere (and why they are willing to let go of their exclusives to be on other consoles). That is their mistake.
If you look at Sony, they have a good catalog of classic games on their service plan, but they also make high quality games that sell well. That is their bread and butter. But that’s also because their games take a lot of money to make which is also by us, consumers, helping them out to make it. That’s why when Sony put Horizon Forbidden West on their subscription day one as a test the sales trickled down a bit. And I think it shows that if you make a good game people will be willing to spend the money on it - just look at many Sony games and even a few others that aren’t exclusive (Black Myth Wukong).
I don’t know - we all have personal opinions on things and you may very well be correct. I just feel like buying games helps the developer more than subscribing to a subscription and not knowing how much money the development team made from their owner. And this ultimately helps with future projects and quality. That’s not to say it’ll be good, but it certainly helps. 🤷♂️
@Kraven the problem is to you and many other people for some weird reason is still about sales where the company itself said its not anymore. Its up to then how to do business. Studio does not have to recoup sales, its up to MS. They have marketing for the game, financial department, etc. They are also offering a cheaper way to play the game via sub but Regardless they have our money. Like its not a new thing, everything is a subscription now. Moreover, for this particular game, well sales also gonna be on steam and PS where GP is not available.
I was not talking about 3rd party, they pay case by case basis but reports say they pay enough to recoup all production cost for the game right away. So again then its up to dev if they agree to terms. Its not our job to think about MS or other studious money. I see 0 point in buying basic version of games available on GP from consumer perspective. If you want to buy games, thats fine and then why sub at all? Or you can only sub to core.
Sony has a different strategy and also their budgets are getting out of hand - hence the expansion to PC. They are also adapting and changing strategy but everyone ignores it and bangs on xbox.
Any proof that GP is not sustainable? They dont have 300M budges for games (maybe rare exceptions like halo) and they pay only 1B for 3rd party. GP before price increase was reported earning roughly 4B in revenue. And now they reported revenue increase for GP due to more people in GPU and more expensive tiers across the board.
They are profitbale today with GP. They are fae from 100M targets thats true though
@MeanBeanEgg The problem is we as gamers have passively accepted this as the norm.
