Gray Zone Warfare is another extraction shooter that's gaining lots of attention in early PC previews, and we're quite interested to see where the game goes from here. Its Unreal Engine 5 visuals are striking to say the least, and the game's attention to detail is setting itself apart from other efforts in the genre.
The game is described by developer Madfinger Games as an "immersive tactical FPS with a maximum focus on realism", and it contains a "vast open-world setting" with lush jungle environments. For now, the game doesn't have a release date, but it's planned to launch in PC Early Access sometime in 2024.
In terms of a console launch, it's sounding likely at some point, but the team is currently focusing on "the final stages of development" for its Steam Early Access build.
Is Gray Zone Warfare Coming To Xbox?
Developer Madfinger Games hasn't named Xbox as a platform yet, but it is looking at bringing the game to more platforms after the PC launch. The team is "starting on PC first" and then "will see" about what other platforms Gray Zone Warfare appears on.
Here's the confirmation of this, courtesy of a recent Game Rant interview with the creative director:
Q: "Have you any plans to bring Gray Zone Warfare to consoles with cross-play support in the future?
A: We are planning it, you know. We want to support consoles. We won't do it immediately because we need to stabilize it first. We need to do everything on the PC, do the first updates on the PC, and if the game will be suitable to put on consoles, we will do it. Even during the Early Access, we will try to do Early Access on the consoles. Because I love consoles, I play a lot on them. I think it's a big space there. There are not so many tactical shooters there."
Xbox Game Preview hasn't been mentioned, but there's a chance that the Microsoft program could come into play here. The developer says that Gray Zone Warfare's Early Access period "may span several years", so if it decides to press on with a console release sooner rather than later, Game Preview is an option for the team on Xbox.
Anyway, we'd definitely like to see this particular extraction shooter land on Xbox as it looks like it's bringing something different to the genre. In the meantime, we'll be tracking the game's PC Early Access build to see where it's heading during development - some more information on the game is available down below.
"Gray Zone Warfare is an immersive tactical FPS with a maximum focus on realism. Join a Private Military Company and navigate a vast open-world setting alone or in a squad. Adapt to your surroundings, use tactics to your advantage, and fight against other human operators and AI-controlled enemies."

Not really my thing - I much prefer a more 'arcade' based shooter without having so many different things to 'manage'.
Wait, can someone please clarify what exactly are the merchanics that this game is bringing that new to the genre as thi is article states.
I had my PC read the article to me as I was multi-tasking and towards the end it said something about how they are keeping an eye on this game, n hoping it comes to Xbox, because it does something unique...
I must have missed what that was exactly. I heard and saw that they made the game with UE5. But I am hoping they have something that is truly unique... because with a name like GREY WARFARE... uhhh yeah that has something pretty glaring about it that absolutely does not feel unique LoL (obviously the games name make it sound as if it is a game mode or offshoot game to Call of Duty Modern Warfare
